Has anyone tried Maki Maki? It's a sushi + Vietnamese place on 101 St and 81 Ave in the East Whyte area.

I see that Kabsa closed down. It's that Middle Eastern eatery on Jasper Ave beside the CWB tower.

Yea, Kabsa was always busy every time I walked by and I know it had a following.

I was torn on it. It wasn't bad, but heard some bad experiences. I liked the variety of the food though form the norm of 'Subways' et al. nearby.

So...CoCoDi. Is this place going to reopen, or what? It's been ready to open at Jasper/115 St for a couple of months now.

^ OK, so CoCoDi is finally open, in case anyone cares.

On another note, Ivory Club is closed at 111 St/103 Ave. The Overtime is returning in that spot, grand opening is on July 1. I hope it returns to the upscale cougar den it used to be!!

I wonder if someone will do another 'dueling' place downtown, I think there is still a good market for it.

I hope so. Red Piano is awesome but location fail. The old miribelles location would have been great. looking through the windows a couple weeks ago they had gutted it down to its structure. It was one big space from the alley to the front windows.

Overtime in the Park has dueling on Fridays and Saturdays and it packs the house every time. I imagine they would look at doing the same in the downtown spot.

I've heard that the reopening downtown Overtime will not have a dance floor, so this will be just a lounge or pub.

CoCoDi

We had a horrible meal there last night. The decor and menu are all over the map. Chicken nuggets, spring rolls and lamb chops for example.

Started with humous and pita $8 (I think) not bad and was accompanied by daikon, pickles, and forgot the last one. They did not have Lenanese beer but said they would today so we opted for Canadian. My partner had a Lamb Kabob as an entree $17 and I had lamb chops $22. I asked for medium rare - they were raw raw and I had to send them back 3 times and they still came back rare The chops must have been frozen, thawed and put for 5 seconds on the grill for marks (3 x grill marks) ...obviously they do not know how to cook lamb chops and my partner said his lamb tasted like cubes from Costco.! Service was spotty.

We hated the decor - a put off from the start. They need restaurant makeover stat! We had high hopes...they were dashed and we will not be back.

Wild Tangerine has closed their outlet in Manulife Place. Don't know if the main restaurant on 104 Ave/112 St is still open or not.

dont know if this is the right thread but theres this store close by called save-on-foods

it has an awesome bakery, decent selection of natural and organic foods & products, amazing bulk section & a nifty little club-card that you can attach to your key chain...

the store is really wonderful & more-than-exceeds my expectations in terms of selection, service, and cleanliness

i visit the place 4 or more times per month & so should you

While driving down a lively Jasper Ave on Saturday night, one place that was in complete darkness was Prohibition at Jasper Ave and 111 St. Are they closed for good, or undergoing their semi-annual renovation?
