^will yet another place fail in that house? I am not sure why they always do for that neighbourhood should be able to lap that up.

Shitty street frontage and pedestrian integration/restaurant design. It's a cursed location/building for a restaurant.

I hope you are right... history just hasn't been in favour of a restaurant there. Mind you, The Globe was a cursed location before they moved in (after Club Malibu left it was quite a number of restaurants). Same with The Druid before they broke the curse. But there are dozens of other restaurant locations in the city I can think of that haven't broken the curse, and go through a new variation every 12 months or so.

Buddha Bowl on 74th and 82nd comes to mind for me in regards to those type of locations. I drive by it every night on the way home from work but just don't feel compelled to stop.

Fiore (across from Garneau Theatre) closed, to be replaced by Urban Diner's 2nd location. I drove by Fiore and I can see construction happening.

Anyone here ever tried the restaurant Louisiana Purchase? I've heard good things about it but never been there.

Just curious on some feedback.

I tried it several years ago, and it wasn't bad. Can't say whether it's still good or not. But there's a better place for Cajun cooking in St. Albert called Cajun House.

I liked LP... wished I had been more adventurous with the menu, but I would go back.

This is a cryin' shame:

Bistro Praha struggling to find new space

Edmonton Journal August 25, 2010

Milan Svajgr, former waiter and now the new owner of Bistro Praha, is at a loss.

Plans to reopen the restaurant on Rice Howard Way, in a space next to the Sherlock Holmes Pub, have fallen through.

"They don't want us," Svajgr says. "We are too small for them."

The old Bistro Praha, a downtown fixture, was destroyed in a fire in the Ramsey Building in March 2009.

Svajgr has tried since then to get the cafe back on its feet but the task has proven difficult, especially because he does not want to stray far from downtown.

"There's no other options because there is no space. There is nothing really here in downtown," he says. Svajgr has not given up though, and says he will keep looking.

"It's very sad," he says.

^I'd love to see them in the CBD again... what about 4 rooms or in on RHW north of the subway.

I wasn't impressed. OK, but nothing great. Not many options for Deep-South/ Cajun food in Edmonton. Check Yelp/restrauntica/urban spoon for feedback.

If you're in Edmonton City Centre and are looking for something a little different the Press'd Sandwich shop is open on the west side. It's pretty good.

Also looks like Fatburger will be open tomorrow
