So I have a weird reason for liking it. Im from Houston and I badly want the tallest Chase Tower recladded and the skin on this one is a perfect example of what I would want it to look like. See told you it was weird!

You'd be trading one dated looking exterior for another. The stripes would look a bit overwhelming on a thousand footer, and you would cover up the cool looking square windows, but cladding it in the darker color of this one would be intriguing.
I'm negative to neutral on this one because there have been and will be worse. I'd be more 3 to 4 out of ten. We are seeing some nice designs, but many are meh at best, the Austin norm. Function over beauty, cost savings over elegant, meh over wow.
If we were to take a poll on all our highrises, bad, meh, nice, the meh's would have the highest percentage by my vote. This is bad.meh.

Haha, this is a very thorough post on the uses of "meh." I feel so much smarter now...

Unfortunately, this and many of our buildings fit the definition.

It really does look like it came straight out of the 80s.

I needed a reminder of what the finished product is supposed to look like so I pulled this from an earlier post on this thread. Now that I can see this more clearly, ewwwwwwwww.

This is why I'm not complaining too much about all the blue glass everywhere.

Because blue glass, unlike most other shades of glass, is actually pleasing to the eye. Black and blue-ish green can be nice, too, but only sometimes.

Every time I hear someone talk about how much they wish we'd get a building with _________ color glass, I roll my eyes. Gold, green, and pink are particularly hideous.

Now, other colors can be nice when in another material. I'd love to see some red, orange, etc.

Yup. That's the reason most glass skyscrapers are blue. But I do like a little green - as in aqua. I'm looking forward to Third + Shoal because the day time renderings are greenish.

This one is done. UT begins moving in this week. Nobody here probably cares much about that, but it also means the Block 71 project is closer to starting. Hopefully it also means we get some renderings for the rumored latest 500'+ tower. It appears we are finally breaking through that 450' glass ceiling.

How are these related? I can't recall.
Thanks

UT owns Block 71 and that was where their HQ was before the new one across the street was built.

I walk by this one almost every day, the tower itself is pretty bland, but it's very attractive at street level. I especially like the stripes on the glass -- you can only see that detail up close.
