Yes. They'll be lucky to open this year.

Yikes. The Quay North CEO wouldn't commit to a timeline for KT at all back in December which I thought at the time didn't bode well. Looks like taking over management from their gen contractor last fall hasn't yet brought things back on track.

Walking thru the quay looks like things are happening at the old green leaf brewery and the front near shipyards coffee

Great to see!

Yah no way king taps is opening this year. I’d be thrilled if all the little places marked “opening 2023” open this year. That’s what made the quay what it was, great small places. Get that back first so there is least a reason to go there anymore beside a soup place and a butcher

What Nchkay has planned for the North Shore reserve sites.

Lions Gate they have condos at the Capilano Road intersection and replacement of the International Plaza building. Seems like lower density townhomes for members and community services on the rest of Marine Drive along with those empty lots where all those member SFHs are located. Seems like development near the water treatmenet plan and land other other side of the railroad isn't specified.

Second Narrows site will need to account for future bridge replacement and whatever long term they plan with the rail crossing. For some reason they stuck a bridge buffer on the west side of the existing bridge possibly for Skytrain and a possible station next to the substation with some kind of east/west crossing over the highway. Condos near the Seylynn towers and Real Canadian Superstore.

Quote:
Creation of a new Nation Community Service & Office Centre along with new revenue-generating land uses and Member housing options.

Honouring the former riverbed and the healing qualities of the former waterway.

Re-enforcing Sḵwx̱wú7mesh lands and territory through culturally informed architecture and artwork at this high traffic location.

Quote:
Reconnect the lands and existing Member homes to the riverway and waterfront.

Restore and remediate contaminated lands and the impacted waterways.

Maximize revenue-generating land uses to provide economic prosperity for generations to come and fund new Nation amenities and community growth.

Reclaim former reserve lands through neighbouring infrastructure changes.

"Potential transit stop?" Surely they don't think the Purple Line's coming to the Upper Levels?

I thought you yourself were an advocate for a Cap U gondola.

I see a new transit bridge at the bottom.
These say "Transit Station" whereas the Marine Drive / Capilano map shows a "Transit Stop".
Does someone know something?

If that's the case, it's a really weird place to put a midstation - or an even weirder place to put a terminus. And don't Hydro substations have a minimum height clearance?

Yeah I get the Phibbs Exchange transit station location, but the other one? Only 400m from Phibbs - I could only see that being a gondola stop, with the power lines moved underground

Methinks the Squamish know just about as much as any of us and transit-wise this is mostly a fantasy map.

I think this is the case (sadly, as it's fun to speculate).

Of course, the Squamish have a bit more political power to make their dreams reality than any of us. The choice of the UBCx route through the Jericho Lands was at least partially swayed by the Squamish. I'd say that the Squamish putting forward a fantasy map does make that fantasy a bit closer to reality. (C'mon government, it's the right thing to do to connect the North Shore reserves to the Skytrain network via the Purple Line )

Remember that nearly a year ago the Province announced it was looking at options for replacement of the Second Narrows crossing. It makes logical sense that one of the first groups they'd talk to is the Squamish Nation whose reverse surrounds the bridge. As part of that announcement they also said:

Quote:
“It’s in reasonably good shape. It’s not end-of-life, but it’s not currently configured to allow us to have rapid transit uses on that bridge. So, we’re interested in looking at that we’re talking with both the mayors of the district and the City of North Vancouver,” he said.
Which would reasonably also result in talks about potential transit alignments with the Squamish.

Then there's also the fact Translink (and by extension the Province) are also talking with them regarding the update to the Burrard Inlet Rapid Transit Study.

With the new bridge alignment corridor being outlined on this map, it's reasonable to conclude that at least some options regarding transit were also discussed.

I'm guessing that turning left onto Main Street might be a tough alignment. So maybe you could turn left around Crown and join up near Park & Tilford. But who knows what's behind the stations on both sides of the highway..

Perhaps, but having the SkyTrain not connect to Phibbs would be even tougher. Whatever - we'll see if this actually goes anywhere.

Yeah. It just seems absurd that it wouldn't align with Phibbs.

I can't decide what's more unlikely, the Purple Line routing alone Keith or routing up into Central Lonsdale to provide access to the hospital.

Yeah, that is strange.
You'd think it would be on the east side of the highway,
while Phibbs would serve the west side of the highway.
The bold dotted line on the right is the hydro line that I think crosses Burrard Inlet and goes down Boundary Rd.
