111 W57th is now beginning to become exciting indeed . .
a year from now, OMG, now that'll be scary . .
that's when I start looking at this beanstalk though my fingers . .
and probably pissing in my britches . .
I hear Wal Mart is having sales on diapers. Might be good, because with all of the towers rising, urinary retention is not an issue!

I like the gold leaf(?) going up on Steinway! ETA on cladding? How much taller do you think they'll get before they start to add some?

I expect it will catch CP Tower at some point.

I'm not sure, but hopefully it won't be too long.

that "extra long toothpick" picture in the June 15th post . .
never ceases to short circuit my entire mind completely . .
even with the picture of 111 before me,
(its proportion looks like its three 1s are stacked on top of each other !)
I cannot imagine such a "building" with actual people in it . .
being so implausibly skinny & so preposterously tall all at once . .
it's pure hyperbole . . terra cotta or not . .
& there's 10 empty open levels at the summit of this wafer . .
perhaps a serene locale for yoga & meditation . .

I love that they have a Instagram location tag for the Steinway Tower already. That video also really puts into perspective just how high off the ground it really is already.

Yeah, this is gonna pass CPT tower at some point. It's just too skinny to not pass.

But the "race" will be fun regardless.

Extell's units will go on sale sometime this year (they're already cleared). JDS was holding off until next year I believe, but it will be worth watching the two compete. I'm glad that none of the other high end developments in the area have gotten underway. 520 and 220 seem to be doing well, and these towers will need a little time to be absorbed, making the time ripe for the othher developments.
