Ah, it is to bad you couldn't spend more time in London. It is with out a doubt one of the greatest cities in the world!

Paris is a fine town, but <3 London.

Any chance on a photo thread from your trip? =)

Wow Paris is astounding!!! Only just got here, but it seems to be a much more compact city than London (at least the little I saw of it). The average building density is like greater here?? Other forumers surely know better than me.

To answer your question... Yes!! I should have several. In the UK I spent most of my time in cities that I've never seen on SSP so it will be fun to share those pictures I'll post my pics from Paris and London, but I'm certainly no expert on them. Le touriste!!!

Wow so now that my trip has concluded, I have an opinion about at least 2 of the cities. I spent 2 and a half days in London and 6 days in Paris.

They are both amazing cities... so much history, so much fun, so much LIFE. Everything and anything you could ever want are in either. And both are both crawling with tourists!! But form-wise they are a bit different.

Paris is so much more compact!! The city is huge, but everything is smashed together. From what I saw, it seems that the average mid-rise is taller in Paris than it is in London, and there almost no areas of the city that are predominantly residential or predominantly retail. London is huge also, but it has more open spaces. Paris is so uniform and cohesive!! Most every building, street front, etc are designed to look the same. London didn't feel that way at all.

The subway systems were both very good, but it seemed that Paris Metro was more consistent than London's Tube. I also really REALLY liked the fact that Paris lines are numbered... it's just much easier than simply naming the line and expecting everyone to know where it goes.

I'd live in either city if given the chance, but I think I enjoyed Paris more.

1.Rome
2.Rome
3.Rome

oh yeah and don't forget Rome.

London cant hold a flame to Rome's history (or any other European city for that matter). Its the city that created civilization as we know it, There's just no contest.

^ Well I contest since they all say that ancient Greece has to be credited as the actual founder of the Western civilization, Rome just spread it. There would've been no Rome, no Europe, no Americas at all without the prior original Greek work.
It's quite impossible to me to seriously answer the title of this thread... I guess I must say Paris since I've never lived anywhere else but I'm aware that there are literally thousands of other places on the continent in which anyone of us could certainly find happiness.

I'm a big Berlin fan, and of course London. I don't have a handle on what the essence of greater Paris is in the year 2011, though that city has kind of an omnipresent place in my mind. When I was a kid, I had a Paris picturebook of the age of the Lost Generation that tought me the pleasure of sitting still in the sun with something to drink, basically. Of course all of those stories.
