I hope the clear glass at the top is for a more effective solar chimney but that's probably too optimistic.

The rounded corners are the only thing that keeps Brookfield somewhat interesting. Otherwise it's just a glass box

Some peoples' obession with minimalism is likely just a case of rationalizing the buildings they already have. Buildings exteriors have a few more performance objectives than an iphone case, and there's only so much "refinement" possible on the same basic design.

One york looks odd from this angle.

Haha, that kid looks like my nephew, and yes, there's a chance he'd be doing that stupid Pokemon thing...

No, not at all. On the contrary, it's cerebral and inidividualistic. Edited to add:

Middle left is Stantec (250.8m), middle right is JW (192m).

Streets like this are never going to be Montmartre, but maybe they're not so bad if you approach them as vaguely Hong Kong-esque (i.e. sans in-your-face signage or AC units dotting buildings like bad acne, but providing an early signpost for the future pod-like existence we're heading toward).

How things changed. Colonades were strongly encouraged when the condo was designed in the early 2000. Now, they are strongly discouraged.

Rogers, JW Marriott(190m), COE Tower(130m), Stantec(250.8).

The JW is just starting to peak over the winter garden extension.

Where would you rank Queen's Quay's importance among Toronto streets? Its not the most active/exciting but I think it is the nicest to walk down, you are correct.

Another couple of months and it will be the tallest building U/C in the country by a long shot.

Nothing coming down the pipe short-term taller or shorter either.
