I came across these, and they're labeled as "Travis County Courthouse". There's no date or location given. The building looks more like the 308 Guadalupe massing. But not exactly, and it could just be a placeholder.

Almost the entire block will be used for this project. March is the planned start date.

Wow. That little, old apartment building is going to be completely surrounded. I can't believe it is going to stay there.

Here's an update via Community Impact. Even if this stays on schedule, it won't be starting until Fall 2019.

I'm not sure what the technical name for this is, but it's showing what's there now showing the tract elevations of the site.

The one building left on the block is now planned for Demo. It is being Demo'ed as part of this project even though the project site map previously posted did not show this site as part of the courthouse project.

This project consists of two buildings. The courthouse will be built first, and an office building will be built at a later date. The heights listed in the thread title are probably not exact. Some estimating was needed based on the available elevations, and there were some discrepancies concerning the heights in the document which is linked to after the last image.

More elevations are in the link below these.

The buildings aren't terrible, but the street level pedestrian experience is awful. It shouldn't have to be that way.

It seems like this could be for security reasons a la the federal courthouses. If I remember from the republic square version, security was the main reason retail wasn't being proposed in an area which demands good street level interaction.

Or is it just a less-than-ideal way of dealing with the sloped land?

I think this is likely the case. That being said, you'd think there could be some sort of way to design around that issue, segregating the retail part of the building from the courthouse part entirely.

I've pretty much accepted the fact that you shouldn't expect good architecture out of government related projects. I mean, the best you can hope for most of the time is somewhere between meh and barf.

Anyway, I actually like that this was two buildings. When I saw that they were building on the entire block, I cringed at first because I was expecting it would be a single massive (but short) building. Separating the two uses allowed it to be two buildings which gave the the opportunity for a public plaza between the two. It also meant that they're taller being separated into two. Otherwise we'd be seeing a much larger and slightly shorter building. Just look at the federal courthouse. It's a tree stump.

truly horrible neighborhood interaction. No excuse except lack of care or concern. The elevation facing west is the office tower not the courthouse..... safety is less of a concern. Just looks like quick and dirty way to deal with street elevation ( as in land height shift from east to west on the block. This means the building will turn it's back on the area to the west. An area that is a final frontier adjacent to the CBD.
So all the "park your food truck here" earlier renderings were just BS to shift attention away from this?
Very disappointed .
