C™ in Dallas: 10 Days

Some random outtakes from my week and a half since arriving.

Mostly some skylinestuff this go-round taken from wherever I
happened to be for whatever reason at the time.

Weather during the last 10 days: Goldilocks.

Places: Reverchon Park, Oak Lawn, N. Oak Cliff, Oak Cliff Founders Park,
Lake Cliff Park, Southwestern Medical/Parkland Station, Uptown Station,
Klyde Warren Park, Arts District, Lower McKinney, Margaret Hunt Hill
Bridge, and West Dallas.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

That's it. Have fun. Go do good things.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Also, pay forward the random pots you use to cook while out and about. . .

Not me. I think the bridge as constructed is pretty pointless and silly considering it is spanning the mighty Trinity River flood plain that for a majority of the time looks like this:

And will occasionally look like this:

I get that the Hunt bridge is mostly for show and no politician from Dallas asked my opinion, but seems the ~ $90 million could have been better spent.

Its supposed to span a park with future lakes so there aren't ten billion pillars in the middle of it. That's why they want different designs. Before they even thought of Calatrava, they wanted to span the basin as much as possible in spots where the lakes are to be built. Perhaps getting Calatrava to do it is pointless, but not the idea behind it.

Skyline looking really good, Dallas is bulking up for sure. Looks like the economy is humming along in the Metroplex.

I think Dallas missed you...

Infrastructure that doubles as art is ALWAYS a good thing.

Great photos. Dallas is really making progress downtown and they already have such an amazing skyline. I wish we could see more Dallas pics of the skyline, downtown and some of cool neighborhoods there. Its been 10yrs since i have been to the MetroPlex.

Nice photography! One thing Dallas really has is a great skyline.

But no matter how hard I try, I just can't find many redeeming qualities about Texan cities. I don't know why people there are so inclined to abandoning their city centers.

Actually there has been alot of progress lately that people are moving back into the city, downtown Dallas itself has about 1,000+ apartments planned and being renovated from old abandon buildings. Also uptown is in a mini boom with many apartment projects in the works.

Not a huge fan of Texas in general either, but Dallas is doing quite well from my perspective, compared to what it once was. The center is definitely growing.
You can't forget Austin (my favorite Texas city) either, Austinite! The only part of the center that's not built out to a reasonable degree is behind the Capitol building, where there are plans to eventually add infill.
