OK...perhaps the vivid yellow will brighten the drab environment. Living on Bryant near the Hall of Justice with a freeway on two sides is not at all my idea of a desirable spot.

Kudos as usual for another spectacular update timbad!

man, after the 50+1 decision out of the supreme court, i wonder if we could see a civic group emerge to speed along the central subway extension with ballot initiatives.

timbad - lots of upadtes for us to chew on - thanks!

So glad to see the wooden construction sidewalk cover removed at the Proper Hotel. So creepy to see the drug dealers congregate there. Hopefully with the new remodel across the street & the opening of the Proper Hotel (strange name) the intersection will be a little more friendly.

Good news IMHO even though I appreciate fast food joints more than most I suspect:

San Francisco to buy Haight McDonald’s, replace with housing
BY ADAM BRINKLOW
SEP 11, 2017, 9:40AM PDT

. . . the city will buy the McDonald’s at the corner of Haight and Stanyan for an as-yet undecided sum, raze it, and replace the burger joint with housing.

The city dates the Haight McDonald’s building to 1975 and records it as a 3,500-square-foot structure sitting on a parcel more than ten times that size, which presently consists of mostly just a parking lot . . . .

The purchase would knock off several birds with one stone, boosting the neighborhood’s housing stock and filling up a currently underdeveloped parcel while potentially solving a local nuisance. The Stanyan Street McDonald’s earned a reputation over the years as a hub for neighborhood crime.

. . . a man was shot at the fast-food diner.

The city received so many complaints about drug dealing and allegations of related crime there that City Attorney Dennis Herrera even complained directly to the McDonald’s corporation itself in 2015 . . . .

In a 2012 New York Times story, that owner told the paper that employees called the police 300 times in just a few months, albeit mostly just to roust people who hung out without buying anything.

here is the 'other' CPMC , aka St Luke's, down in the Mission/Bernal

the future hotel at Third and Townsend (looking north down Third)

and more head-on

the one that wraps around the Old Ship Saloon on Pacific

lousy pic, but one I'd forgotten about: 1255 Columbus

I like this angle and the moody atmosphere (from the same series as 1977's post above).

I ALWAYS parked at that McDonald's whenever I go to Amoeba. It's always such a sketchy area so I'm glad they are going to raze it and create affordable housing.

The "old" St. Luke's Hospital, on the far left at the corner of Cesar Chavez and Mission, will be demolished after the new building opens.

I'm not sure if another punch is being landed - the parking lot of this building has new fencing around it. edit: actually, I just noticed in a pic from a month ago that the fencing was already there, so this is probably nothing more than a reminder of what is pending here. /edit

but demolition which that website says was supposed to happen last year certainly didn't, so who knows. in any case, I'm not extremely keen on what is supposed to rise in its place anyway (altho better than Abaca)

the Shipyard (Hunters Point)

I completely forgot to post these, from a late August walk around the Shipyard in Hunters Point, so before they get too stale...

approaching from the west on Innes

typical street views

still going on construction

at the east end of the hill is a pleasant park with a view to the iconic crane of the neighborhood

the bayfront hasn't been turned over to the developer yet, I don't think

looking back at the development from the overlook. you can't tell very well, but there is a playground tucked in there that was getting active use when I was by. people I encountered out and about were all more friendly than I am used to in other parts of the City, it was almost weird

art, some whimsical, was scattered about

assuming this is part of the ongoing clean-up of the area

the construction frontier

it does still feel a bit isolated out there. should help when India Basin starts filling in between it and Third St

^^Didn't even know they were building that stuff already. I used to visit ships in those drydocks when they were still in use.

1554 Market (left) & 22 Franklin (right) 09/16/2017

A view from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music school. The parking lot is the site of a proposed high-rise. Except for the red building in the background this whole square block (Market/Franklin/Oak/Van Ness) will be redeveloped with high-rise buildings.

1554 Market (left) and 22 Franklin (right)

With Facebook now leasing all of the office space in 181 Fremont Tower, does that mean it will be called "Facebook Tower" now or still just 181 Fremont Tower?

http://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/a...o-12210122.php

It would consist of 19 buildings, ranging in height from 65 feet near the water to a single 300-foot residential tower at the center of the site. About 6.7 acres would be dedicated to open space, and an existing structure, the four-story concrete Unit 3 Control Room Building, would be converted into a boutique hotel with between 120 and 150 rooms.

on the eastern slope of the hill that forms the spine of Hunters Point. the pic is looking more or less to the north.

ah, here: on the white path you can see just to the right of the last 'T' in HUNTERS POINT in this google maps image
