I believe this ramp, minus the cladding, is structurally identical to the JHC ramp, one of the advantages SOM has, being able to nearly duplicate successful designs...

That would mean that its two ramps interwound, so really it is a double helix like DNA...

The parking ramp is, in fact, structurally identical to the ramp at the John Hancock Center. Asked one of the architects at SOM deeply involved in the project a few months ago.

I'm a little disappointed --- "TRUMP" ain't lettered in Gold!

But seriously, looking at the photoshop (great shop btw), this bad boy still has a ways to go! About 550-600 more feet?

About another 625ft to go, in addition, a 200 ft spire

Yep, that's the latest info. But, JuniorReb knows the inside scoop on schedule.

I'm not a Trump fan anymore following the whole dispute with O'Donnel- I like O'Donnel less than I do him though- after they resorted to name calling my respect for the two took a downward turn.

But to his applause I have to admit this tower is arguably his best piece of work. Not only is it striking but it seems to be the most rendering-acurate tower I've seen in a long time. I don't feel the least bit mislead on this one---

I'm a Wash D.C.er. I have spent time in Chi-town including an ascent to the Sears tower observation deck, the John Hancock Observation Deck and toured on foot taking in the fresh great lake air, magnificent views of landmarks and the ferrytale skyline.

I wish there wasn't such a rivalry between NYC and Chitown because both are distinct and both should be celebrated !

^^ I don't think there's that much of a rivalry. I'm originally from N.Y. and I love Chicago.

Now N.Y. and Boston ...

its been there since...as long as we've been building? I doubt its leaving. There are too many city-nationalionalist on each side. (most certianly including myself)

Pathetic defense of a giant mouthpiece who said he could build, decided not too, built a POS instead (with a spire no less), then slams better projects claiming he wouldn't want to build them.

Sorry, Chicago has standards.

I'd hardly call the Trump Tower a POS. It has clearly been overshadowed by a few other (better) Chicago residential projects such as the Chicago Spire, Waterview, and Aqua. But this is still going to be a very nice addition to the skyline.

That Trump, the big New York star who thought he could blow into this little cow town and be treated like a conquering hero by the local yokels, has had his ass handed to him so many times is simply icing on the cake.

I came into town this weekend for the Sox-Mariners game. Hung out downtown for a while, TTC is really moving along. I know some regular forumers might think its not moving very fast. I only get into the city 2-3 times a year, and I hadnt seen it since it was only four floors tall. I see it on here almost daily, but its completely a different experience in person. I'll be back in town for a Bears game. I hope too see it shooting up past the next transfer floor!! looks great daytime and night time.

The new Batman movie is fliming outside my place today and I caught some cool shots of helicopters flowing low next to Trump tower. (please excuse the dirty lense and dark settings. I had to grab the camera pretty quick)

yes, in between Wacker and State they stopped traffic, and let it go in between takes.

A few weeks ago, I saw the "Batmobile" on Wacker and around LaSalle, during dusk! That was the first time I realized that a new "Batman" film was in production.
Nice photos!! When I saw those helicopters, I thought the President was in town!
