A proposed tower for another part of the marina (first supertall outside the small area where all the rest are).

It's to replace the oasis beach hotel which is shown in this picture:

Pure greed if you ask me.
Apparantly the old building will be torn down in autumn to make way for this.

I wonder if the portrait of the man at the top is supposed to be a permanent feature.

BTW the developer of this is the same as that for the al fattan towers behind. Don't know why he's shooting himself in the foot blocking his own towers.

That's a portrait of sheikh mohammed, the developer is apparantly a good friend of his

The new tower is extremely slender.
I guess that it doesn't block most of the view from the twin towers behind.

It is such a shame that history is being destroyed. You would think that because so many people say "Dubai has no history," developers would do all they can to preserve it.

Ugh, that'd be really tacky, I don't care who the portrait is of!

The guys over on SSC, especially owners in the torch are raging since there are rumours of 3 towers, two 100 storey and one 90 storey being built on the plot in front.

^^ Maybe you're right but you'd be pissed off as well if you paid extra for a view and have this propped up in front:

^^^Those are the risks you take when you buy in a developing city. You need to keep an open mind to possible development right at your front door.

^^^ I don't know, to me they don't look like they'll age well. Just a representation of an era that'll be hard to cover up in many decades to come.

I love them !
Bold, uncompromising design.
They'll make the other ones look irrelevant.

^^ I just wish they'd sink the podium underground like all the other towers have. This is a 15 storey carpark by the way and by the looks of it there are no shops or anything, just a massive blank wall.
I'm sorry but this is too much, there'll the gridlock 24 hours a day in that area.
