If we are going to have a Hyatt, why can't it be "as nice" as Colorado's Hyatt CC Hotel? (Even this one could be much better!)

from hotels.com

Austin's CC hotel under construction, I'd take that...

Even Tucson, yes, TUCSON Fin ARIZONA is getting a 27-story Sheraton CC hotel!

It's expensive to build a CC hotel, and while the Austin one is cool, we're limited to square blocks. The Hyatt/Hyatt Place proposal isn't that bad, and would be nice because it would serve two markets.

I worked in the hotel industry for a bit, so maybe I'm biased, but I constantly heard people mention wishing that Portland could support their convention. I think we'd do well like Austin has if we had a few more hotel rooms near the CC than we do now. They're lucky, most of the major hotels are a 5 or 6 block walk with no rivers to cross (at least, they were last time I was there in 2008).

Accessibility Navigate The Overpass

Serious urban traffic jam is the hardest governance, long-term global problems can not be resolved, troubled by the sound development of the world urban traffic. Serious pollution to the environment. The traffic jam is becoming an epidemic of major cities, the primitive traffic light control and complicated overpass caused all this history. A large number of vehicles in the intersection and the intersection between the repeated start, acceleration, braking, wait, not only resulting in a waste of fuel, vehicle wear, safety hazards, air pollution, and waste of people's time, affect people's emotions, resulting in the government had to vehicle limit line, but still difficult to solve the increasingly serious traffic congestion problems.

I know this isn't technically a building but i couldn't find a better fitting thread to post this in but it is something I wish Portland would do.

I saw this article about dallas building a "park deck" over the highway through the city and I was just wishing how great it would be for portland to build a "park deck" over the 405 it would connect goose hollow and northwest so much better to the city and enhance walkability. It would be like a line of parks like south and north park blocks.

Capping the 405 is an idea from Vera Katz' term as mayor. In fact, they did a full-blown study which should be online somewhere. Maybe somebody has a link?
