Cool view from okctalk's Pete of construction projects in Deep Deuce, Level Apartments progressing rapidly and Aloft Hotel breaking ground across the street. There are only five buildings in this picture that were built before the year 2000- everything else was vacant/parking.

Our river circa 1990s

Believe it or not, this is the same geographic place. I'm not sure if it's still the same city.

I'm really liking the new tv spot for OKC with updated imagery and skyline shots probably taken in July.

Sandridge

2nd Street (Level Apartments, Aloft hotel, private residence, and recently completed Maywood Lofts)

A cool train viaduct goes straight through the neighborhood.

Lots of activity on the Chesapeake campus- Three or four sites with heavy duty cranes. they are currently adding a new tallest building to the campus, which you can see rising.

A Midtown apartment project called 1212

And of course, Devon Tower from some different angles

I was so prepared to not like this, because I tend to think destination TV ads are a bit cheesy, but this got me so pumped to come to OKC like asap. I think it was the music and the nighttime aerials that did it for me.

That last pick looks great, some serious density there up Park Avenue.

I could visit Oklahoma City simply to be able to barrel down that freeway like it's goin' outta style.

Fortunately, the city has much more going for it than just that.

I-40 Pedestrian Bridge progress today, by ThunderCitizen okctalk.com

And a cool shot of I-40 showing some of the embellishment on the walls, with OKLAHOMA CITY spelled out:

Skydance pedestrian bridge

The sculptural portion of the bridge was recently completed, including the color-changing LED flood lights. Portions of the new highway will open January 5.

About 1,000 more Boeing engineering jobs headed to Oklahoma City from Seattle and Wichita (http://newsok.com/article/3637558). On top of the transfer of 550 Boeing jobs from Long Beach last year. Considering other corporate relocations and exponential growth of existing energy companies, OKC is experiencing a legitimate employment boom.

Also I-40 Crosstown eastbound opened yesterday. Photo from worthy cook

OLD Crosstown Bridge

This is probably a silly question but I've heard just about everything. What happens to the old I-40 bridge? heard on the radio it was sold to a director, it was just going to be tore down, etc..

it's getting torn down without a second thought. It is old, crumbling, and pratically beyond structurally deficient.

I figured one way or another it was coming down or it would be the worst eye sore next to our Devon tower. I've heard so many stories about what's happening to the old bridge but not sure which one is true. Heard on the radio a director bought the rights of the demo to use for a movie and some other things not as exciting as that.

Just to add a few more...

The historic Braniff Building remains under renovation as part of Sandrige Energy's new downtown headquarters, dubbed the "Sandridge Commons".

When the gray paint was removed, the beautiful original red brick was exposed. NewsOK

The back half of the alley facade will feature a new glass panel system to match a future midrise and 14 story tower. NewsOK

The complete Sandridge Commons plan. The Sandridge Amenities Building on the left is under construction now and a completed Braniff Building is seen depicted in the middle of the render, behind the main skyscraper. The new 14 story tower is unannounced but has been rendered in plans for some time now. OKCtalk

New Main Street parking garage announced with retail on both sides on the ground floor. Possibility for added housing on top, but has perhaps been eliminated at this point. OKCtalk

OKCtalk

The new Chesapeake Energy Arena grand entrance. It faces the previously elevated I-40 highway that was torn down and relocated several blocks south. This new entrance will now face Oklahoma City's new grand boulevard. OKCtalk

Lots and lots more going on in the central city and Downtown area.

Thanks Architect2010, the renovation of the The historic Braniff Building looks really awesome and also the parking garage looks pretty sweet as well. Keep us updated, we rarely have any OKC forumers on here.
