That Golden Turd (aka Asahi Flame) is the stupidest looking thing I've ever seen! Tokyo should have some discussions with Asahi about possibly taking it down. Maybe replace it with something that actually looks like a flame rather than a piece of &%#. Sky Tree, on the other hand, is looking incredible! There's nothing like it in the world today and it's gonna make a great viewing deck.

I like the Asahi Golden Poop It adds character~

Some more, from around sunset. Both from my hotel room at Park Hyatt Tokyo in Shinjuku.

A panoramic view of most of Tokyo's "major" buildings outside of Shinjuku, including Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Sky Tree.

Really? Nothing like it?

On the design scale, it is exactly halfway between the CN Tower and The Guangzhou TV Tower. And it got the worst of both.

Tokyo's skyline is definitely more worthy of attention. This structure easilly towers over every other building. A true giant.

^^Nice pictures from the hotel room !

With 32 floors, this tower is actually a hybrid between a skyscraper and a telecom/observation tower.

Tokyo Sky Tree from the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower rooftop observation deck.

Some other shots from there on my Flickr, if you're interested~ It was a bit cloudy, but it's hard to not be impressed by Tokyo.

I forgot about this panorama showing both Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Sky Tree.

I wonder what will become of Tokyo Tower when it is neither a huge tourist attraction, or broadcasting facility~

It's central location (as opposed to Tokyo Sky Tree, which is like at the last train stop on its subway line) and iconic status will guarantee continued visotors. The ESB's observation deck didn't shut down when the Twin Towers went up.

^I agree. Currently, there is little else of interest around the base of the skytree. (I just returned from Tokyo). There are still plenty of other observation decks in the city (Mori Tower in Roppongi, Sunshine 60 in Ikebukuro, and some building I can't remember the name of in Shinjuku).
