It shouldn't annoy you because it doesn't matter. They aren't next to each other, there is no good reason to feel inferior because one building is taller or shorter than another.

It's not done yet.

It's rather sad that some people actually worry about such things. Of all the reasons to feel inferior, to do so because another city has a taller building than yours is, well, . . . . (I won't say it). And, yes, I realize this is a site about tall buildings and we all supposedy love them, but still . . . .

Yep, and many cities have done that and we can too.

It's nice, but the views from the hills are still too far away from the action. Nothing like being downtown and looking a thousand+ feet down on the streets and buildings below. Also, the views of the bridges & bay are closer and more interesting.

This is the tallest building on the west to me. It looks really tall and without a cheating spire, it dominates the skyline.

Anyways, does anyone have some interesting articles/ tidbits about the building "breathing" air from its cladding?

Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects as a first-of-its-kind workplace that specifically promotes the health and well-being of its occupants, the pre-certified LEED® Platinum tower will be a fusion of today’s most cutting-edge achievements in sustainability, technology and engineering.
Green features will include Hines’ patented floor-by-floor air intake system with high-efficiency air handlers providing significant natural ventilation, plus Under-Floor Air Distribution (UFAD) to enhance indoor air quality, tenant comfort and zone controllability while greatly reducing HVAC and fan-horsepower energy usage. Low-emissivity glass will also be utilized to reduce cooling load while increasing energy and light transmission performance, and 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows will afford excellent natural daylight and truly spectacular views.
Other green measures will include comprehensive water conservation measures, such as rainwater collection, water reuse and low-flow fixtures, to reduce indoor water use by 40 percent and outdoor water use by 50 percent.

^Yes Comcast 2 will have these too. Pretty much only way you can get LEED Platinum in a large tower. Although I think Lord Norman Foster, during his presentation, can only be quoted as saying they are "aiming for LEED Platinum."

Does it matter? London's tallest building is only 1,004 feet tall, and it's a better city than every city in the world not named NYC.

Dubai and Shanghai and others have taller towers than NYC. Are they better cities? Unequivocally no.

Well our tallest tower is taller than the Shard in London. So SF > London! We win!

Anyways, I have to say the building's cousin in Hong Kong looks a lot more interesting (also a Pelli design)

Now that I think about it, it does seem dumb that I just revived the observation deck/ height discussion again.

I know this is like my 3rd question, but is there retail space like restaurants in the plan?

Some . . . if you want coffee, juice or beer apparently:

But the building is physically linked to the transit terminal which has signficant retail.

This is completely off topic, but I wonder what's up with that cargo ship docked at Pier 30/32? First showed up on the construction cam on December 20.
