Back in 2004 Shelter Corp had an agreement to develop the area above Portage Place.

http://www.scpl.com/news_releases/March%2022.pdf

I recall all the scaffolding being put up and then nothing else happened for months until the city made the contractor take it down.

The Portage Place pads were submitted as a possible site for Hydro HQ back when that project was still at the proposal stage. One of the many missed opportunities with that project...

I remember that plan and I recall discussing it in here, but I'm pretty sure that all that came out of it were some renderings and a few Freep stories.

The scaffolding was a thing but that was longer ago, maybe in the early 90s? As I recall (and bear in mind this was a long time ago, so take it with a grain of salt) there were some immigrant investor program dollars lined up to build a hotel on one of the PP pads (Marriott Courtyard sticks out as a name but again, huge grain of salt). Scaffolding went up but things fell through at the last minute and nothing was built.

Your right , I recall now that the scaffolding was for a hotel on the PP pad(s) and not the the Shelter corp project.

Forks dev. posts moved to:

Winnipeg | Forks Redevelopment | Parcel 4 - Rail Side Initiative | Preliminary
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=217747

I was actually going to ask TV or/and others where things were at with this redevelopment project, politics..seems to be an issue, as usual.

is there a link for the presser? Or do we have to wait for the news agencies to disperse info?

Probably just have to be glued to twitter. First images will be grainy from reporters in the audience.

Mmmmm, champagne. My glass is out, and a bottle of New Age is ice cold, ready to pour.

Apartment tower appears quite a bit taller than 360. Very nice looking, right on the corner of Main and Graham. 360 Main looks nice and shiny, looks kind of like charcoal colour. No rooftop elements, looks the same.

******shit sorry for saying "condo" just a habit lately.********

Considering that a new building would only have to surpass 360 Main by 36 feet to be Winnipeg's new tallest building, I think we may have a winner here!

Although wait a minute, did you say condo?
