Boston's Sears/Roebuck building is now known as the Landmark Center -- includes a movie theater, some retail, and offices (main tenant is Harvard Medical):
All three have proposals; the Sears building has a proposal to be restored and redeveloped in to artist lofts/ studios/ condos and the same for the Old Marine Hospital, but the funding isn't available for either. The Goyer Lee House was bought by a couple that is planning on opening up a bed and breakfast, but there's not a schedule of when that will happen that I am aware of?

I've decided to add another building to this thread instead of including it in an upcoming Memphis thread. This is an old cotton warehouse in the South Main District in Memphis (Corner of Vance and Front, about 75 yards south of Gus's Fried Chicken, if you know where that's at). The building is currently being cleaned out, but there aren't any immediate plans of what to do with it. Surprisingly, its in very good shape. I'm not for sure how long its been vacant.

^^^As far as I know its in the process of being bought, or has been bought and the plan is to turn it into a bed and breakfast...that's a long way away though.

ark, good job, as usual. you bring so much through the lens to the viewer, and your hard work to get a good photo shows. unfortunately, i don't have the talent that you have to capture and record memphis history and development. i see these great series stories on memphis past, etc., and just become heart-sick to see what has been knocked down or burned down, particularly some of the glorious steepled churches and public buildings. memphis had several hugh red sandstone buildings, similar to what one sees in the birmingham metro, but the mortar was a problem, and ended up presenting endless, and ultimately, sound structural layouts. again, thanks for the hard work. kingchef
