Love that observation, dude. Very accurate description, if I do say so myself!

Thanks Aaron for taking those great photos of my hometown!! I really appreciate it. Im glad the rest of the world gets to see how much of a gem in the rough Wheeling is. It is gritty and worn but i think there is still a good bit of potential left in this city. We just need consistent good leadership from the politicians and from the local community. I was so happy to see this thread today. I have not been on here as much lately with my busy life but i will try much harder to do so. I live 30 minutes north of Wheeling now and i do miss it, but since my parents and brother live there i get down there fairly often. Keep up the good work and i hope you visit Wheeling again soon

That bridge is also the scariest thing I have ever driven over. My knuckles turn white whenever I head down to Wheeling Island and have to cross that thing. Great tour, man.

You know that you can get to Wheeling Island off of I-70 and not that ancient bridge, right?

But yeah, that bridge looks very scary to cross. There's a reason why only a few cars at a time widely spaced apart are allowed over it at any given time!

Wheeling seems to be the definition of beautiful grit, and I love how urban it feels for its size, with three and four story buildings all across downtown. I would love to have seen it in its glory days, when it had 62,000 people in 1930, not the 28,000 and dropping fast of today.

Loving the Wheeling Feeling. I've always been intrigued by the place and its history, and hope to visit some day. one of the most interesting small cities anywhere.

Holy crap...I think I missed that the first time around. What a town Wheeling is. Most cities ten times it's size would kill to have that kind of old building stock.

That set of snaps is a winner. Take good care of that camera.
First time in Wheeling was in '06 and I had my bike with me that trip. Even with the bike, I still couldn't get enough shots. I went as far as the old B&O tunnel, east of d'town and steep ridge.

Remember beautiful Joyce DeWitt (Janet from 3's Company)? She was born in Wheeling.

Hard not to notice the striking similarities of a lot of the architecture to St. Louis. Haunting. I know I must of been through it but I don't know if I understood what I was passing through.

Very nice architecture - surprising, actually. To think that the only time I traveled through West Virginia I was asleep.

I literally get white knuckled with sweaty palms when I have to drive over that bridge. Thankfully it's a once in a blue moon deal. Awesome photographs.
