lazy hazy sunday walk in st. louis (plus a river village)

normal sunday morning walk out my door, felt like photographing today....yeah, it's a phone thread...felt like taking photos but not really trying.....

photos from the streetcar suburb of tower grove south/heights 3-4 miles southwest of downtown st. louis.

lazy hazy dayze thread ......

Later I was dragged to a festival in Kimmswick, MO by my girlfriend to go to our friends foodtruck...Kimmswick is an oldish river town/village 20 miles south of St. Louis on the Mississippi River.

hooray, a new thread! there's been an STL dearth of late. man i love the 'hoods around tower grove. and kimmswick... well, now. haven't been down there since i was a wee babe. pittsburgh built a lot of bridges, it seems. the streetscape at the kingshighway end of the park needs some humanizing. just listing random thoughts here. anyway, nice thread. thanks!

Nice! Those rehabs on Utah (pic #2) will really improve that block.

Great set! Really nice to see Kimmswick pics. I don't know if anyone has featured Kimmswick before.

i'm pretty sure cousins of mine have been married in this church 15-20 years ago.

cool sidewalks, bro.

i saw an awesome "st louis, gateway to the west" t-shirt with the arch and skyline on it at a thrift store in eastern oregon last week and thought "man, i'll bet centropolis and the STL twins would think this shirt is the tits." i really thought that!

I like.

Those brick neighborhoods remind me of some Pittsburgh's east end neighborhoods a lot.

And then this could easily pass for New Orleans:

^That pic is in Kimmswick, MO, which is about 30 miles south of St. Louis.

it is that I have a sidewalk fetish. some of those more out of sorts, slightly weedy, and uncomfortably narrow sidewalks shots in there are making me a little uneasy, upon review. there's no standard sidewalk/treelawn size or type in st. louis unlike say chicago but it does make for interesting sidewalk gazing (its a dirtier splinter off of shoegazing). fortunately there are still some pretty hott sidewalks in st. louis. brand new sidewalks in old neighborhoods come as close to giving me a boner but not giving me a boner as i guess can be or whatever (because I wouldn't admit something like that even if it were true). rest assured, however, i live on a block with a smoking hott set of sidewalks.

thanks guys!
