I was in town over the weekend and saw the fins on O8. They look even better in person than in the renders.

Awesome updates. The Four Season looks awesome from the waterfront. I wish something was added to the 1st Ave. side though to make it look better or more attractive. 1521 looks awesome too. It looks better than what I expected. I still wish the glass was more or a lighter blue than the blue it has now.

1918 looks very cool just being a plain, concrete, tall, skinny tower. O8 doesn't look good with the fins on the hotel part imo. They messed it up with that feature. Maybe it'll look better once it's completed and the building is lit up. I wish they had only left it on the base part.

Aspira looks HUGE is person. I saw it yesterday and thought it looked very overpowering. Specially with that huge base and the square base.

One of Trump's partners is finalizing the work on scoping out a place for a new Trump property downtown. According to the DJC, market-willing, it will be two towers, one 80ish, one 40ish and has good backing should the market come back to a normal or above-normal state in 2010-2011. In current dollars, it'd be about $600mil.

Obviously not hanging my hat on those specs, but Trump still maintains a heavy interest in Seattle and city planners were amenable to an 80-story office/condo tower in the right areas.

Looks a little a hybrid Comcast-Eureka-4SeasonsMiami.

I've been waiting for an update from you Vashon. Thanks for coming through again.

Do folks have a sense of where the Trump tower would be located? I'm assuming it would be in the unlimited height area (DOC 1).

Hmm... I don't like it much but it'll be changed eventually. Something like a tall Hearst Tower would look cool in our downtown... In the location of the King County Jail actually. Aren't they trying to move that facility to Admiral street [near Georgetown, behind Avalon Hill on West Seattle]?

There's been no discussion of moving the jail.

Seattle and some of the suburban cities are looking for locations for a new jail because the King County jail is running out of capacity to house folks. The King County jail is staying put as far as I know.

Oh I know it's staying. If it ever is moved then that's a nice location for a pretty tall skyscraper. Of course, I'm not saying that it'll move soon and I don't even know height requirements for that area either. It'll just be a nice spot imo.

I'm pretty sure there was discussion about proposing on moving the jail. There was a report on King 5.

That's pretty hard to imagine and would make no sense at all. If the TV news people said that, well, TV news isn't known for intelligence.

It would be nice if the city could have the post office moved then get that block redeveloped with a new tallest or at least a new second tallest.

Thanks for the updates Vashon!

This Emerald City Tower would look great I think....and it seems that given the number of floors, even with the shorter plate heights of the residential floors, overall height including an office component should give us a new tallest, not to mention the spire if it were to be approved in current form. IIRC, the plate height for each floor of the Columbia Tower was reduced to come in under 1,000', so I suppose the same could hold true for the ECT.

Yeah, the reality regarding the FAA's summary judgment against Selig is that buildings could easily come up to 1100', but they weren't willing to test that out at the time.

Fingers crossed, reality acknowledged.

FAA height limits are related to total elevation including topography and buildings. Plus a link I posted a while ago made it sound like the limits were sloping (like flight paths), not flat.

Well, yes, as it should be-- but my impression was that there was a little more give than was given.
