Not on bloody Broad Street.

Every time that I look at the rendering I'm reminded of the Hampton Inn on 13th & Race. An out of the way corner is fine for something less than grand looking. This building is better than the horrid garage it's replacing but not what I'd call ideal for its location.

So the bleh is standard for the brand.

Since this was first proposed, I never thought that the design of this and other Cambria hotels matched the brand's desire to be cool and hip a la Kimpton or aloft. The hotel's architecture does little to differentiate the brand from the dozens of other mid-tier hotel brands like Hilton Garden Inn or Ramada Inn.

My brother works at Google - like a lot of their California campuses, from the exterior they'd be akin to glorified suburban office park. But then you step inside...

All that said - this building is wedged in along Broad Street - it's pedestrian streetscape experience; how sophisticated its interaction with Broad street feels; is their an elegant way they integrate some ground floor retail... all of that is way more important than the stories above. This is good, high investment Broad Street infill.

It is not an inspired design, but the integration of the adjacent low rise buildings as ground floor retail doesn't look too bad.

I think the rendering looks great. It's has texture and good lines. Can someone explain to me why this is bad?

Logo is terrible though.

Edit: Just took a look at the sides. Nevermind. Still think the front looks nice.

The logo kind of looks like the Sanctum symbol from Doctor Strange.

It does look nice in its context, I'll give you that. It's just not a very good building in general. At least it's bland and kind of short, not bland and skyline-altering.

It is hard to believe they are building a hotel without underground parking in the middle of Center City. If a guest drives in, what are they going to do with their car? Seems short sighted, especially since it is right on Broad Street.

I would agree if there wasn't ample parking already. But they can park at the Bellevue garage right across the street. And this hotel may well have a valet that parks guests' cars there. Would not surprise me. Also, there is another garage on Locust directly next to this hotel that could be used.
