Ahhhh Modern architecture in Montreal, the city that built that architectural masterpiece named "complex desjardins" I do believe the hotel portion of that lovely project is designed to resemble a cave, and let"s not even mention the orginal section of the convention centre (a homage to concrete)
If you think the previous was unclear and bland, well imagine our reaction when this recent rendering came out! I like the top, the base though is perhaps the most vulgar late 70's modernist revival.
Yeah the first rendering is much better, especially in relation to Phillip's Square. The second one with it's white wall, blue glass and lack of a "skybridge" for lack of a better word really doesn't fit. In fact there is a building in Halifax that the second rendering resembles (on Spring Garden)
Phew! The first was ghastly, the second is gorgeous. For a minute there, I thought they'd gone from that great looking building above to the nasty mess depicted in the other render.
This project has been upgraded to 40 floors. Additional informations will be released at fall 2012.

Project is at the preliminary stage of pre-development and coordination with municipal authorities. Timelines for planning, sub trade tender and construction have yet to be determined. Further update fall 2012.
Proposed construction of an office tower with commercial and food service areas on the ground floor. The building may also house a component with condominium units and or a hotel. The scope of the project also includes landscaping works and construction of a green roof.

It's a shame though esp. compared to the gorgeous Deco structure next door.
