OUCH.
I actually wouldn't subject myself to that for his entry level contract.

But really, what a freak incident. I'm not even sure how that happens. Poor Taylor Hall

Check the replay dude. Spezza wasn't even trying to go in the crease. The only reason he ended up on Reimer is because Gunnarsson bumped him.

Edit: And the game wasn't handed to us. Anderson was key.

Yikes! Potter would have done better to just fall on him.

All these calls for helmets during warm up are kind of ridiculous, how many players get hurt during warm up? this is the only one that comes to mind, and if he was wearing a helmet, then Potter's skate might have deflected more toward Halls eyes or neck.

Glad Hall is OK.

Malkin has been into "beast mode" this season... the Sedins have no chance against him in the scoring race.

54 pts (24 goals) in 39 games already. Not bad for a Russian that didn't care according to some people here.

Coming in to this year he basically admitted he hasn't cared the last few years. So, yeah...

5pt nights have become rather routine for him since~

Still can't believe some players are against wearing helmets in practice (like Phaneuf), say it was just a freak injury. Yeah its a freak injury until it happens to you, than it becomes a life-changing injury.

Sure maybe Malkin wasn't all that dedicated for the last year or two. But he was a 23 year old who just inherited a 43.5 million dollar contract afterall. Hopefully people won't be questioning his drive anymore after seeing the type of dedication he put into his off season workout and the end result of that likely being the Art Ross. Still, as happy as I am about seeing his return to form, without #87 in play, I can't see them accomplishing the end goal.

I think the west is gonna be the softer conference this year in terms of playoff races. How the hell are the Flames still right there competing for a spot, when they're 2 freaking games above .500?

Ottawa keeps on piling up the points. Insane.

472 pts in 391 games... I'll take him on my team even though he doesn't care.

Same with Ovechkin and his 650 pts in 520 games.
Datsyuk is amazing and Kovalchuk is on pace for 80 pts this year.

After the lockout, Markov was the second most consistent D-men (after Lidstrom obviously) right after signing his previous contract. Second best D-men from 2005-2009 (until the injuries started). I just want to see him play a little next season. Was such a treat to watch.

His pts/per game post lockout hasn't been matched by anyone not named Lidstrom and Gonchar (who BTW is Russian)... and he actually didn't get the chance to play with superstars (closest one was Kovalev).

All those guys are Russian! Some of them are really paid well but look at their numbers, they are actually producing... the same cannot be said for a certain guy named Scott Gomez.

Oh the parity in sports! ..Who would of thunk that Ottawa would be sitting firmly in the middle of the play-off pack half-way through the season.
I mean they were expected to end near dead-last, and I was expecting to see at least a couple of re-building years.Who knows there is still lots of hockey to be played. Is it the new coach, the young blood, Anderson, or all of the above keeping them as competitive and "over-achieving" as they have been?

hahaha so true! Why is he still even playing in this league? He's just as bad as Chris Drury was (1 goal in 29 gms last year). Just buy him out or eat his salary in the AHL or something but don't count on him to save games in shootouts. Just absurd

Gomez and Malkin... two players going in opposite directions, each to the extreme.

The tank is on...

Gomez in the shootouts
Another blown lead
1-7 in the shootouts with only 4 total goals scored (Gionta 2, Desharnais 1, Pacioretty 1).

The only thing going on for us was once again the Cole (2 pts)-Desharnais (1 pt)-Pacioretty (1 pt) line.

The good thing about having a horrible season (aside from the top pick) is that you don't get frustrated, you just laugh at your team. I think I've never loled so much during a hockey game when I saw Gomez as the 3th shooter.

Anyone else watching the KHL all-star game on TSN2? There's a constant whistling or wind chime-like sound in the arena. It's quite strange, and very annoying.
