Nope....it's still a visual trainwreck.
Matter of fact, this is the hands-down worst of the renders.
The twisting is gone, the fenestration is outright tedious, there's no bird's eye view to determine exactly what to make of the undulating portion and ugh....
...Vap. Id.

^ Nice to see it moving forward. Construction for the base of this tower will be the most interesting to watch out of 4 HY buildings as it will entirely be supported on pylons with live rail tracks running under all of its base. The other 3 towers are being constructed on solid ground and do not have that engineering challenge. Cannot wait to see all 4 towers rising simultaneously.

We don't know what the final design will look like. Extell started work on Nordstrom without a final design, and it filed a NB application with a design that's now obsolete.

I'm just going by these latest renders. So far none of the changes to HY have been an improvement to my eye.

The current version is still the model on display at the site, so I'll stick with that one. It may be the final version. (Until we see otherwise).

It's really hard to understand through all the iterations the process seems to work in reverse, resulting in the clunkiest least glamorous of all previous designs. Truly puzzling.

I think the original is still my favorite, despite the still clunky base...

David Childs, the architect of the Time Warner Center and One World Trade Center, had to shoehorn a large Equinox gym plus offices, an orthopedic hospital, a sports emporium, a hotel, and a condominium into a curved base and a slender tube. “Hudson Yards is a city within a city. This tower is a city within a city—within a city,” he says.

Equinox Fitness Clubs Expand to Hotels

By CRAIG KARMIN
April 21, 2015

Quote:
The New York company that runs Equinox fitness clubs is launching a hospitality brand intended for health-conscious travelers willing to pay for high-end fitness facilities and amenities while on the road.

Equinox expects to open its first hotel in 2018 at Related Cos.’ Hudson Yards development under way on Manhattan’s west side. The hotel’s Yabu Pushelberg-designed property will include indoor and outdoor swimming pools and, at 60,000 square feet, the largest ever Equinox gym, the company says. A Los Angeles hotel is slated to open in 2019.

Equinox eventually expects to open as many as 75 hotels world-wide. Related, which is the company’s majority owner, expects to invest or raise “several billion” dollars for Equinox hotels over the next few years, a Related spokeswoman said.
