I guess this just solidifies statements like which Boquillas made;

Downtown bike shop to move
By Valentino Lucio

Quote:
Founded in 1920, Charles A. James Bicycle Co. has plans to move into a larger space later this year.
The downtown bicycle shop will stay in the area but is expected to move into a 2,300-square-foot space at 114 Broadway on Sept. 1, said Hank Estrada, the company's owner.

So after 25 years at his current location, current and increased demand has caused him to move into a space 3x the size of his current location.

and adtobias.... not sure if you were asking a question or just making a statement, but I'm assuming you were responding to SKW, and he was talking about Graham Weston working with developers, which was previously posted on this thread. We don't know "like what developments." because he has not announced them yet.

If you think we are making it up, I will repost it here with a quote from SAbizjournal.com

http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantoni....html?page=all
Quote:
Rackspace Hosting Inc. founder and chairman Graham Weston says he will forge partnerships with a dozen or more real estate developers over the next two years to further develop the city center into a livable, walkable urban environment that will attract and retain young professionals.

Weston, who owns downtown’s Weston Centre, says his plan — which he’ll unveil within the next six months — will involve “philanthropic capitalism” akin to Pace Foods billionaire Kit Goldsbury’s Pearl Brewery redevelopment or the Bass Brothers’ revitalization of downtown Fort Worth.
So if he is going to announce within the next six months, and this was printed in March, it shan't be long before we hear the details.

1800 Broadway update, also you can see The Mosaic (blue crane at the bottom), The Pearl, and then you can just barley make out The Tobin Center in the middle of downtown.

Fantastic! That's exactly the kind of centralized urban residential growth San Antonio needs.

Does anyone know the status of these two projects?

http://blog.mysanantonio.com/downtow...-construction/
The palm trees were cut down on Houston Street back in January and there's been no activity since. Just the same ugly buildings sitting there.

I noticed all the windows have been knocked out of the SAWS building. Does anyone know when it's expected to come down?

Pearl momentum is spilling over to Broadway corridor

Quote:
San Antonio Business Journal by W. Scott Bailey, Reporter
Project Coordinator Date: Friday, July 27, 2012, 5:00am CDT

Silver Ventures Inc., which is redeveloping the former Pearl Brewery site, has yet to complete work on a new complex that will house nearly 300 residential units and more than 25,000 square feet of retail space.

However, the company has already begun preliminary work on plans for an additional project that could bring another 150 residential spaces to Pearl, and it controls a number of nearby parcels of real estate where hundreds more units could be developed.

Weston is eyeing projects, including new residential development, that take inspiration from San Francisco, Portland, Ore.; and Silicon Valley — communities that attract skilled young workers by creating urban enclaves where people can live, work and be entertained.
Would love to see a block turn into even half of something like this

This momentum is so very exciting. I can't wait until these projects are finished and more retail starts popping up everywhere in the area. I wouldn't even mind big companies for the time being. It seems like the ball is finally rolling down hill.

Here are some pictures of the SAWS building demolition. Hopefully they'll have it all cleaned up soon so the Market Street realignment can begin.

Downtown transportation study's been released. Some interesting suggestions for a few key roads/intersections.

Transportation study ready for public consumption

It lists short- and long-term goals, some of which are covered by $40 million from the 2012-2017 bond package allocated for downtown street improvements.
