Can't wait to see the final renders for this building.
Really hoping we get something similar to one of the sides of the Bahrain World Trade Center. Picture something like this on the lake shore downtown. What a skyline changer that would be.

We're not. Check out h2h's photoshop of what we are getting in the photo and video thread and try not to be too disappointed. From that angle... I am.

I'm still waiting on the real renderings provided by the architects. What's been published on these boards and in the news are low quality renderings that match the old schematics/permits. The newer set looks pretty different - no sections for the tree areas, possibly no balconies, and the other angles look pretty different.

This has certainly been the weirdest announcement for a building I've seen here. No confirmations from the architects, developers, or tenants....and dirt is moving.

Remember, the site plan for the tower has not been approved yet. So we don't have the final elevations. They are technically only working on the underground parking structure which was approved.
This project still needs to go to the Design Commission for a density bonus and that is where we will see some renderings. This project wasn't on the January Design Commission agenda as I was hoping. But the next meeting is 02/25, and the agenda for that meeting has not been posted online yet.

Heck if we just get some lighting like that it would be fucking epic.

Austin's downtown is really lacking in nighttime lighting IMO....I dont know if that's a Dark Skies thing or what, but I would love to see some more lighting and color at night. Dallas has got it down, San Antonio's starting to get there.

I'm going to be extremely upset if they took out the tree sections. I think it would be a terrible move on their part and will diminish what this tower could be. The tree sections is what would set this tower apart from any other in Texas.

Perhaps it's my imagination, but many of the renderings out there appear somewhat shorter than 589' - at least relative to nearby buildings. Somewhere it was mentioned that the renderings out there are somewhat dated. Just curious if it's possible that some physical elements have since changed.

I agree, that these look no taller than around 500'. Hopefully this hasn't been given a haircut...

Yeah, I hope the rendering isn't accurate as far as the height is concerned. The almost 600' was one of the major things going for it besides the unique design. And for that design to work, for me, it has to stand much taller than the surrounding buildings to break up that plateau.
