You'd be amazed at the number of people you see walking down the street with those triangular shaped 7-11 pizza boxes. Granted, the number increases dramatically after about 11 pm or so, and the people carrying them tend to look, um, wasted, but who am I to judge!

Maybe we'll have a pizza war like they do in NYC where the price for a slice drops to like nothing. Yum.

Pizza Chicago in Palo Alto (if it's still around) wasn't so bad... although that was my opinion BEFORE moving to Chicago...

I had it in San Jose before that location closed down, it was ok.But I dont miss deep dish as much as I miss Chicago tavern thin crust which you absolutely wont find in the bay unlike deep dish or NYC thin crust of which I've had slices from a couple good places.

Speaking of tavern style thin crust, has anybody had Monicals Pizza downstate.? Damn good if I may say so.

Apologies for taking this thread in a pizza direction. Anybody seen The Pizza Show on Vice? Awesome show.

Sorry to interrupt the pizza conversation, but a few almost-medium sized projects issued permits yesterday that will help the urbanity of their areas

1) 3200 N Southport (Southport & Belmont). 1 story building will be torn down and a new 5 story, 24 unit building with ground floor retail will be built:

2) 2317 N Clark (Clark & ~Fullerton). The 1 story Walgreens was already torn down there but it will be replaced by a new 6 story, 35 unit building with ground floor retail

Nice, but I want to see more strip malls get demo’d.

The density increase of the West Loop is getting quite ridiculous, and there's no end in sight. Views from some of those rooftop bars will be amazing, and well worth the overpriced designer cocktail admission

Riverwalk

All the flavors of Chicago: Riverwalk hopes to showcase diversity of city's neighborhoods

Greg TrotterContact Reporter
Chicago Tribune
A new program on the Chicago Riverwalk could bring up to a dozen new vendors to the bustling promenade next summer, many of them possibly women- and minority-owned businesses.......

To accommodate the newcomers, the city is making available three new areas previously unused by vendors that will require a mix of vendor- and city-funded upgrades. The work will be part of the $10 million in riverwalk improvements announced by the city last month. Construction is slated to begin this fall.........

The would-be vendors peered into the dark and noisy ramp to Lower Wacker Drive, located just east of O’Brien’s on the riverwalk, where the city intends to build a “community marketplace” for up to 10 kiosks. As part of the project, the city plans to remove the ramp, improve the lighting and construct a sound wall to minimize the roar of traffic........

One of those spots is just west of the DuSable Bridge on Michigan Avenue, a small room that has to this point been used by the city as a security and janitorial office......

And the other location will be in the riverwalk section between Franklin and Wells streets, perhaps best known for its floating gardens........

^ They should definitely leave that facade as is, rather than installing some sort of cladding. It’s a shame the class is so tinted.

If we’re gonna be stuck with a damn McDonald’s at that site for so many more years, then I think thats a pretty nice design and layout, except for that parking lot. That can easily be developed into something of higher use without it impacting McDonald’s business in any way.

Come on now, probably 75% of their clientele are people driving to or from Navy Pier.

^ I assume you are joking.

There is a McDonald's at Navy Pier already, and McD's all over downtown. Being able to get to a McD's by foot just isn't a problem
