The skin of the SWFC looks a little weird.

Two new renderings by Moyan 808. Is not the WFC is a bit too high ? I think the Hopson tower will be closer to the Shangri La hotel extension too.

I don't know if this interesting lowrise is just a project or if it will be built.
Where would it be located, next to the Gran Melia Hotel or the Pudong Customs Building ?

The Breathing Room

Architects : Arthur Gensler & associates

In a sea of skyscrapers, LuiJiaZui distinguishes itself as a sustainable
"cube" with expansive views of the Huangpo River and Shanghai.
Two glass-enclosed buildings are paired to form a larger, perfectly
cube-shaped second "skin," increasing energy efficiency throughout
the structure. The office wings create ridge walls around a cascading
forest of trees: an urban oasis in busy Pudong.

This big cube is familiar to me.
It reminds me of the Grande Arche in La Défense.
This one looks more elegant though.

This one looks really different to me. It is a closed space and three of its sides are built. (By the way, these are the same architects that created the beautiful australian embassy in Paris, next to the japanese cultural center)

How big is it ?
It looks about 110 m in height and width, like the Grande Arche.

I have found this short information. I don't know if this include highrises construction.

(SHANGHAI -- 7 March 2005)

Major renovation for Shanghai Railway Station North Square

The Shanghai city government has signed an agreement with City Real Estate Group to redevelop the North Square at the Shanghai Railway Station. According to the plan, the North Square and the neighboring area will be redeveloped into a major transportation hub and commercial district.

City Real Estate Group will invest approximately RMB5 billion (US$602.4 million) in the project, including land compensation to existing owners. The redevelopment will cover six blocks and three main roads in the area. A significant part of the project will be the widening of Zhongqing Road from its existing width of 20 m into a 42 m wide eight-lane main road. Land resumption work has started and will take three years to complete. The entire project is scheduled for completion by 2010.

This rendering of a 321 meters building has been posted on the cameraunion forum. It looks like a project for the North Bund area but, as the post was in mandarin, I can't tell if if it is a new one or a discarded one. Does anybody know more about this project ?

Finally I found some informations about this rendering. It ils listed in the "work in progress section" on John Portman (Sunjoy tomorrow square, Bund center, Xujiahui superhigh project) web. This is not an old version of the North Bund Tower but another planned super high. Exciting.

http://www.portmanusa.com/work_in_pr...orth_bund.html

NORTH BUND INTERNATIONAL CRUISE TERMINAL

This approximately 5,112,857 square foot (475,000 square meter) development is designed to fit into the overall urban fabric and, at the same time, be distinct. The Center Tower is the dominant structure on the site and, as such, sets the tone for the rest of the development. Reaching 1053 feet (321 meters) into the sky, the tower gracefully twists to create a form that is evocative in profile of the fortuitous number 8. Its confident presence on the Shanghai skyline will be attractive to tourists and inspiring to residents. The twist is also indicative of a change of function within the building. The upper portion holds a hotel, while the lower part contains offices. Two smaller towers, both rectilinear in form, complement each other and harmonize with the center tower. One features prime office space, while the other offers serviced apartments.

It's sculptural !
I even like the smaller towers. But the base should be freed from the circular building that encloses the tower.
