We're also trying to get Paul Bedford (former Chief Planner for Toronto) and Gary Wright (current - soon to retire chief Planner of Toronto) come in and talk about urban design.

Christopher is a very nice man - he and I are having dinner when I'm in Toronto, I'm very excited. His fees for professional engagement are actually quite good compared to some! If you would like, I could make some inquiries for you Jono?

Great perspective Jstaleness. Hopefully you will be able to follow the progress from this viewing point. It will be interesting to see how much of the interior walls will be kept.

Not much has happened:

A good vintage point from the pedway once it rises above the Morse's Tea Building:

Yes, someone is working on the building:

At a snails pace to the negative power of ten.

Does the guy in the last photo look busy to you?

I noticed they already had some cross beams in the O'Carroll's part, but they may only be temporary supports.

The guy in the photo is there to count any bricks that may or may not fall off the old wall.

It looks like the large square cut is where our crane is going. Right?

That's an interesting observation about the square cut-out section, it will be interesting to watch the progress.

I am somewhat surprised that they didn't rip up all the floors and leave an empty shell. Maybe they will once the crane is assembled.

Everything inside the exterior walls will be removed, the hole is just the begining.

Thats way there is such elborate bracing around the exterior. They will need to dig down yet to put in the foundation/ parking garage.

This is a great vantage point for sure. This is one hell of a difficult project, and its going to be slow at first because of the heritage buildings. Once the crane is there things will roll fast as there only going 9 floors and most of the exterior will be glass curtain wall.

It sounds like a long process. Do you think that the crane will be erected in 2012?
