Thanks, JB! I love it all and hope the high rise comes to fruition. I've always said we need to full service/all season amphitheatre outside of 360.

That theatre design is totally stellar btw.

Sounds like they've secured about 60% of the funding...

Total buildout is $600-$750 million.

Great project! I love it. I too would love to see it come to fruition.

Would they need 100% before it breaks ground?

No. That would be for the whole project. They could phase things in. But, it seems they may be close to securing all the financing for buildout.

Austin | Violet Crown | N. Tower 29 Flrs, ~403' | S. Tower 22 Flrs, ~315' | Proposed

The Violet Crown mixed-use project with an amphitheater will also have two high-rises. One is called the North Tower which will be 29-stories and about 403'. The other is the South Tower at 22-stories and about 315'. Some estimating was needed for the mechanical on top of the building. The schematics are attached to the site plan:

I have never seen something come out of the blue so quickly as this. What the hell? A 400 footer... at 71 and Southwest Parkway? I love it, and it'll be awesome to watch these go up from my house if they happen, but man this is a leap for the city. This has almost a hundred feet on anything at the Domain... Nextdoor is going to have a FIT!

I'm taking this with a huge grain of salt until we see movement on it. The guy behind it, Chris Milam, had a bunch of issues trying to redevelop the Backyard

https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/n...-bee-cave.html

But yeah, my heart bleeds for Nextdoor. If they decide to live in unincorporated travis county, neighbors deciding to do whatever the hell they want is what comes with that.

Nextdoor is painful. I got on in my previous neighborhood to see if I could sell stuff and promptly got off.

And yeah, this is some serious height for that area! I remember when Bee Cave just had the green McDonalds and the HEB.

Both of these towers are residential, and there is a "high-rise" parking garage between them that is ~140'.

I imagine this is at a pretty high elevation? Which means it would be visible from super-far away.

I love skyscrapers as much as anyone on this forum but sticking a 400' tall building out in the middle of the Hill Country is a hideous idea. Why not design something less than 6 stories that better fits into the surrounding landscape. This thing will (literally) stick out like a sore thumb like the ACC Southwest campus, except way taller.

This site is on the named Dittmar Hill, which has an elevation of 1,062'. ACC Pinnacle was at a similar elevation of 1,020'. Downtown is at an elevation of about 487'. The taller North Tower will have a peak elevation only 32 feet below the peak elevation of 92 Red River, for example.

To Novacek's point earlier, what are the odds of this happening? Is it more likely that it would be scaled down - even substantially?

I think it's more pie in the sky than pie on your plate.

It's also interesting in that a development like this traditionally always would have been in city limits (or quickly annexed). With the new normal of annexation, does Travis County ESD 3 even have the equipment or training to deal with a high rise fire if one were to occur?
