It is going to be more park space. But I think we are still unsure how it will blend with Grand Park. Its a city owned plot and Grand Park is a county park.

Yes - but as DMJ19 said, we're unsure how its going to turn out.

The site was once home to the California State Office Building:

Which was demolished by our city with no foresight. Interestingly enough the foundation & basement to the old building remained until earlier this year, and was the subject of several LA Times articles.

Here are a handful of images I took in the adjacent (1950s?) underground parking structure during demolition. This structure reused the foundation & walls to one of the old LA Times buildings.

Indeed, was there last night. I still don't quite get how the hotel works. It seems like an SRO but it's got a really nice lobby? And then I was noticing they also seem to rent by the night after some internet research?

But yeah, great bar and regulars.

This had a giant rooftop sign "818 SANTEE" just a couple years ago... Sad it was taken down.

That really makes me sad.

We need more affordable, fast places to eat.

Vic's on 7th? Do you mean Trader Vic's at la live? That's being replaced by a Chinese restaurant concept

I actually went to the community input meeting on that park. They are currently looking for money to create the park. They are hoping to get something that connects to grand central park, but they want something iconic. They showed a bunch of parks across the world that were memorable, and they were hoping to create something like that. I wish I can remember any of the other parks. They are also hoping for something on site that would make money.

Of note, they said there was nothing useful in that basement. It was all homeless encampments, graffiti, and cats.

I talked to Vic about 2 months ago. It was still on at that time. Did you hear something new?

Oh, my bad, I remembered a French restaurant instead of an Italian restaurant. Sorry for the confusion
