If you don't like Baltimore, you don't like cities.

The last pic is soldiers right? I'd guess that, but I'd have never guessed that sheriff guy wasn't a soldier either...

Also sad to see such nice architecture is such a rough shape.

looks like you got down into it. nice job.

hopefully we don't see tanks rolling down the street anywhere in the united states, again. it's not a welcome sight, to be sure.

Great photos. I like Baltimore.

I think St. Louis City civic leaders probably could take a few cues from Baltimore in regards to downtown development. While St. Louis has a few projects underway downtown - and in the past did such a great job with robust development - nowadays development in downtown St. Louis is crawling, while the region's Midtown, Central West End and Clayton areas are booming.

It's funny how they are so eager to put tanks on urban streets in the United States, but they won't in Syria or Iraq. They look silly.

best Baltimore thread ever, thanks for posting. great street art, grit, architecture, parks, people, and news coverage. it's insanely weird seeing the soldiers armed but not wearing helmets.

i love the composition on this one

Many of the vacants won't be around much longer. The surprisingly-elected republican governor Larry Hogan has outlined a plan to demolish vacant housing in Baltimore, following the broken windows theory. His plan is to replace all the new space with parkland that developers can invest in. In my mind, his plan is half-assed at best. I worry. I do not think attacking a symptom will solve any problem. We will see how this turns out.
