This extension looks like a crude juxtaposition in order to grab your attention. This design from ReThinkNYC a few years back looks way more sophisticated and extends existing runways to allow for larger planes.

I might just not be aware of a good shuttle from LaGuardia, but the Air Train makes sense since it is already pretty close to existing subway lines.
Remember that unlike JFK, the LaGuardia AirTrain will be going away from Manhattan. As a result, I believe the current route with the bus will still be faster than taking the AirTrain.

Wow! 4 runways? I didn't even know that! Sure, they can build 2 more new runways. Yes, they can allow to bring large aircraft. Be sure Rikers Islands will be closed for goods.

This is going to be borderline batshit expensive. If the current bureaucratic climate is anything to go by.

That would of great use for the airport, and for the region. I wonder how it will fair given that the infrastructure plan by this POS president reduces federal funding, and instead, pushes it more towards the state raising the funds.

On the plus, the decreased regulation could be a good thing, but the cost being translated to the citizens, and not in a fair way is what I'm worried about.

Damn, those bridges will be super cool, looking down on planes; not many airports can flaunt that!

Very nice pics. It's really coming along nicely. Which airlines will be there? When they will be completed?

Terminal B has multiple airlines using it's facilities. It's not like the two Delta terminal on the east end of the airport.

The building that is at the end is of concourse C.

Will there be an airside connection between the new Delta Terminal and the New Central Terminal?

New renderings and a 2022 deadline for Cuomo’s AirTrain to LaGuardia

JUNE 25, 2018
BY DEVIN GANNON

Quote:
Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday signed legislation that jumpstarts the construction of the AirTrain to LaGuardia Airport by letting the state use eminent domain to secure land for the project. Passed by the state legislature last week, the bill permits the state to acquire parcels of land already owned by the City or MTA between Willets Point and the airport, allowing the train to run along Grand Central Parkway. LGA is the only major airport on the East Coast without a rail connection, with 86 percent of travelers using cars to access it.

Quote:
Construction on the AirTrain is expected to start in 2020 and wrap up in 2022. The AirTrain falls under an $8 billion redevelopment plan of LaGuardia, as well as Cuomo’s broader plan to upgrade the area’s other airports. Consistently ranked as the worst airport in the country, LaGuardia will be getting state-of-the-art amenities in addition to the added access to public transit.

Wow! Just perfect! I am pretty sure those passengers will take on AirTrain. It will be much easy for everyone. From now on, they don't have take taxi, Uber, city bus or anything else.

It will all be the same terminal, more or less. Delta is building its new terminal to connect to the new main terminal.

They even have the same architects and engineers, so I assume the design and appearance will be consistent.

Thanks for that, I have been asking for a while and couldn't find an answer.

Is the branded LIRR train a special service? That needs to happen. Most big and important cities around the world have a train line that has an airport branding on it. This will help. The same should be for JFK. There needs to be a branded train to JFK for tourists especially that has more baggage capacity and faster service.
