If I were really a dick, I'd merge this thread into the chit chat thread.

I think this is a great thread, seventwenty.

It should include the following:

All discussions about marijuana in colorado.

All political discussions.

Discussions about why boulder is so much more awesome than Denver.

Discussions about why Denver is so much awesomer than Salt Lake City.

Wizened and his theories of monied interests impacting Union Station and the Pepsi center.

Bunt being a dick to everybody, while at the same time arguing his point more effectively than everyone else.

Blm3034life!! Asking when Denver will get its new tallest building.

Arguments about the best microbrewery in colorado (I vote Avery)

Etc etc

But srsly, what is your vision for Denver Six? Are you going to singlehandedly bust up our mega-threading habits?

This one time, I was in the shower, just minding my own business, and suddenly, this big ugly spider jumped off of me and landed on the bottom of the tub. It seemed to come from my crotch area. I was like, “Oh my god! Some big ugly spider was living in my crotch! Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!!!!!!” But then I noticed this spider seemed to have only seven legs or something. And one leg was like way longer than the rest or something. So I took a closer look. And then I was like, “Oh. That’s just bellybutton lint. Thank god there wasn’t a big ugly spider living in my crotch.”

So then, after the spider/bellybutton-lint incident, I was like, “Wow, that shit was crazy. So anyway, where did I leave off? Did I already wash my hair? I can’t remember. I totally have shower amnesia right now!” So I picked up the shampoo bottle and squirted some shampoo in my hand and I was like, “Have I done this already? Hmmm. I can’t remember.” So then I started rubbing the shampoo around in my hands and I was like, “Have I done this already? Hmmm. Nope. Still can’t remember.” So then I started rubbing the shampoo around in my hair, and then I was like, “Godamnit! I totally have shower Déjà vu right now! I already did this! What time is it?! How long have I been in here?! I’m probably gonna be late for work!” I’m telling you man, when I get in the shower all groggy in the morning, it’s like I’m entering some kind of time warp. I’ll be in there for like 5 minutes, but then when I get out, a half-hour has gone by somehow.

Mountain West routinely is the busiest US forum at Skyscraperpage. This is not due to information content, which tends to be cut and paste out of business newspapers that reflect press releases, but, due to argument without sexual references, without too many faecal related innuendos, and without too many personal attacks. Cirrus has defined our Roberts Rules of Order, and, IMO, has done a good job enforcing it.

I DO NOT BELIEVE that we should devolve into the adoring followers of the few who release information without contention.

The less control upon content the better, as long as basic rules of courtesy are followed, and, reasonable attempts are made to define logical argument.

The more discussion is shared in few blogs, the better, as compartmentalization is a form of censorship due to the moderator feeling the need to move entries to one of many "drop boxes." While this censorship is largely inadvertent, the pressure by others to move an entry often is a deliberate attempt to either disregard or disparage argument.

Despite what those who stand to make money or, at least, have the need to defend their reputations at places of employment relating to forums, intelligent argument-rather than the assumption that what the few define as prima facie statements should not be contested-actually CAN influence the world surrounding us (granted on a small level, but, we are very small fish in a rather small pond).

Let it be chaotic, but, keep it clean and well thought out.

Cirrus, keep doing what you are doing, while thinking more in terms of loosening the leash rather than tightening control.

Just have to take this bait here and offer the following:

Colorado’s Crime Is Down and Revenue Up After Six Months of Legal Marijuana

Among the highlights:

- According to Uniform Crime Reporting data for Denver, there has been a 10.1% decrease in overall crime from this time last year and a 5.2% drop in violent crime.
- The state has garnered over 10 million in taxes from retail sales in the first 4 months. The first 40 million of this tax revenue is earmarked for public schools and infrastructure, as well as for youth educational campaigns about substance use.
- The marijuana industry has developed quickly, generating thousands of new jobs. It is estimated there are currently about 10,000 people directly involved with this industry, with 1,000 to 2,000 gaining employment in the past few months alone.
- Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, who opposed Amendment 64, recently compared Colorado’s economy since legalization to that of other states by noting, “While the rest of the country’s economy is slowly picking back up, we’re thriving here in Colorado.” For example, the demand for commercial real estate has increased drastically, with houses in the state appreciating up to 8.7 percent in the past year alone.
- By removing criminal penalties for certain marijuana-related offenses, thousands of individuals will avoid the collateral consequences associated with a criminal record. The state is estimated to potentially save $12-40 million over the span of a year simply by ending arrests for marijuana possession.

With all of the above, doesn't one just want to shout out loud that - The Sky is Falling Down on Colorado?

Cirrus, do you agree with assertions that you could be a passive stooge by taking the position that the official thread should not be pages of pot talk and instead should focus back on development? Is that what DC has done to you?
