I could live with waiting on 2 wtc to be built, if we have 3 wtc go up right away. I think having 1,3, and 4 will look really cool and fill a big void between 1 and 4.

I strongly agree. Especially that T2 won't have a big impact on the skyline unless you live in New Jersey or Staten Island.

It's a good thing that 3 is moving forward -- maybe if we're lucky, 2 will begin before 3 is topped out.

Ya never know !!

Agreed, I have come to terms with the fact that it's gonna be a bit before 2WTC gets going but if 3 continues without stopping now that 1 and 4 are near complete it will make it easier to deal with.

If 3 stops and the site sits there half complete with 2 and 3 as just stumps for a while it would be pretty depressing, especially considering how long it has already taken to get this far.

I completely agree, at least with 3 rising we have something to watch and chances are good 2 could start by the time 3 is finishing up.

Just so everyone knows thejacko5 actually works at the site so his info has always been accurate. I'm sure we will hear something more substantial soon enough. Either way, things are looking good!

WTC Construction Update, June 2012

The installation of the massive above grade structural steel columns and beams has begun on the southern side of 3 WTC. Erecting forms, rebar and concrete placement for decks and walls is proceeding, as is the below grade utilities installation. The sub-grade steel superstructure work has been active since April 2011 and now the tower's lower podium will reach seven stories in height by late summer 2012.

Not true at all.

THat's even better news! To know guys on site are getting that info. If we see 3wtc keep going, by the time it tops out, maybe we will be close to seeing 2 wtc start up. It would be a cool and make the process more special in a way. The big thing is the entire site is going to look much better with 3 wtc going up. It's kind of like the meat in the middle of the sandwich. Not saying 2 wtc isn't a cool building(and yes, I know taller) but everyone has to admidt filling in that huge hole between 1 and 4 is going to be great.

I agree. Since tower 2 will mainly be visible from the NE, E, and SE. Jersey may from the south west across the memorial once it gets to certain heights.

Anyone who doubts the impact that Tower 2 will have on the skyline should click the link below.
One World Trade Center 1,776 feet
Two World Trade Center 1,359 feet
Three World Trade Center 1,240 feet
Four World Trade Center 978 feet

I think tower two might be the most beautiful of all the towers. But I still say tower 3 is the most important. When at the memorial or it's spot in the skyline, having the green light on tower 3 is huge. Tower 3 really bridges together the entire project. I would give anything to see the original design come back!

All these Towers will impact the skyline once they are all completed. Tower 2 will be 1,349' so this one I'm really looking forward to in the not too distant future. Tower 3 will be 1,170' to the tip of the 4 antennas/spires and will be 1,078' to the top of the parapet. Now that we have both Tower's 1 & 4 almost complete our skyline is back.

Look at the numbers! They supplied 10,000 tons of steel for the memorial and they have been contracted to supply and fabricate 27,000 tons for 3WTC. That would not be enough to construct the whole tower.

"There'll be 27,000 tons of structural steel," said Cooke. "We'll buy the raw material, we'll detail it, we'll engineer it, we'll fabricate it, manufacture it right here at our facility in Columbia and then we'll ship it to Manhattan."By Brandi Cummings.

Tower 3 was shortened and Tower 1's spire removed so it won't look like that. I dread what else will happen to this botched project before it's finished...

It will still look cool when finished, but I think Midtowns towers will be more impressive.

We also have Tower 5 which is going to be anywhere between the 700-900 foot range.

Not really. The spiral design for the new World Trade Center will make Five World Trade Center shorter than Four World Trade Center.
