I biked by it Pope weekend. Wasn't paying a ton of attention, but if my vague memories can be trusted, it's topped out.

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but Inga just opened up a small can of worms...

To sum up our last discussion - we expressed varying degrees of dislike for the masts. A few folks may have taken other people's words out of context to suggest that these lights will reverse N. Broad's momentum, but I don't think anyone actually meant that.

Wow, Inga really plagiarised my argument on this one, lol.

I saw that, pretty predictable. She is angry about the lights because she has other issues with broad street that cannot be solved by ANY lighting project. But that's typical of her approach. Her inference that the new light masts will encourage people to drive faster is almost crazy. Ive heard numerous people say that they like the new lights and think they are unique. In years past her theme was "the city is allowing developers to build anything they want and Philadelphia should reject any buildings that don't meet my standards". Now she has shifted to "philadelphia is a car crazy city that needs to cater to pedestrians and bikers who are being held hostage by developers and city officials who only care about cars".

Everyone I know who has seen those lights has thought "WTF?!" and just been confused by them.

I'm pretty sure those lights are our city's 21st century version of the Penns Landing horseshoe -- a monument to silly and frivolous (grant-fueled) spending.

I'd like to know where she gets her numbers, because the project cost was $8.7M, not $14M, and not all of the money went to the lights. It went to the buttload of streetscape improvements all along N. Broad too.

Not only that, it was a State project- they paid for it. I like how she found one person to say you can't cross broad street based on the light timing and that is basically enough evidence that one cannot safely cross broad street.

At the Fairmount Station hundreds of people cross Broad with literally no problems whatsoever. Spring Garden is the same. Where is this magical impossible to cross place? Girard? Cecil B Moore?

Need another reason to love 1706 Rittenhouse? Here is a cool video that details the automated parking garage:

Mount Sinai is a terrible loss. The Preservation Alliance is asleep at the wheel...again.

Are they tearing everything down? I thought they might be keeping the old part along 6th St (or is it 4th?). I thought there was already senior housing in it.

Is there a plan at the 1100 Chestnut construction site to build something on the Sansom Street side? I walked past the other day, and i have the sneaky suspicion that a parking lot is going there? Anyone know for sure?

I know the neighbors fought this tooth and nail but it is exactly the type of development that is needed up and down Germantown Avenue.

If GTA could have buildings like this dotting it all the way down to Broad it would totally revitalize the commercial strips through Mt Airy and Germantown itself.

Here's to hoping. I hope the building does well/sells out quickly because I would love to see the developer do more of it.
