Earlier in the year I built a model of that tower, and now that we're talking about, I got inspired and added floors to make it a 22-floor building. Now this is quick and dirty, it's totally approximate, I have no idea if this is actually what it'd look like, but it's just for kicks and giggles. Oh and I put it in with Eighth and Main, JUMP, and Capital II Tower.

Current Skyline (missing the Aspen):

Skyline with proposed structures and 22-story version of Capitol Plaza.

IMO, it's probably highly unrealistic to think that all will be built, but hey we can dream.

Nice building. It looks like it'll have some decent street level interaction.

Update:

According to the local press, the building has been approved between 15 and 20 floors, but the final height is yet to be determined based on demand.

Quick update:

There are rumors that this building may surpass 20 floors. Apparently office space demand his higher than anticipated.

Let's hope!

Quick update... looks like construction will begin soon, though there's been no word on what the final floor count and height will be.

From the developer's Facebook page:

our architects and engineers have been hard at work to prepare the documents to turn in for building permit this April. We are still on track to begin construction June of this year!

looks like this thing will happen soon -- groundbreaking ceremony to take place this month!

----------------

New owner: Gardner Co. closed Wednesday on the northwest corner of 8th and Main streets in Downtown Boise, said J. Thomas Ahlquist, chief operating officer of the Meridian development company. Gardner bought the infamous site for $2.9 million from Capps Holding LLC.

What’s next? Gardner plans a groundbreaking ceremony March 19 on the building, with construction to start that day.

How tall? Boise approved a retail/office building of 15 to 20 floors. Gardner has said it is considering up to 18 stories because of strong tenant interest.

Who’s moving in? Zions Bank will be the anchor tenant. Other tenants will be announced at the ceremony, Ahlquist said.

I was there last week and saw no construction, maybe it was just preliminary stuff that I couldn't see.
I really hope this is taller than the US Bank Building, but it sounds doubtful.

there is preliminary work being done to the old bank building behind the lot. there's been scaffolding along the back side for a couple of weeks now.

supposedly, there will be a ceremony on monday to start work deconstructing the old tower's foundation and begin work on the new tower.

oh, and though the final floor count is a matter of debate, the latest word is that this will in fact be boise's new tallest after all.

couple of images from the building's facebook page showing the start of "deconstruction".

these are a couple of weeks old; a lot of work has already been done on-site to clean it up.

congrats and glad it is being built. I only wish it were taller, say 500 feet.
