Structure:

Four additional concrete elevator core pours were completed in November and the core continues to rise above 5th Avenue. At the end of November, the elevator core reached Level 8. In December the core cycle will be reduced by one day. The tower crane was jumped 100’ in late November to allow for core construction to continue. The next tower crane jump is scheduled for late January. Structural steel pre-work is ongoing in preparation for primary garage steel erection commencement in early January.

Public Impacts

5th Avenue:

For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.

Columbia St:

The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.

Mobilizations/Street Closures:

The next major road closure is approaching in February 2016, when the large steel columns that span from Level 1 to Level 5 will be erected. This will require a full closure of 5th Ave between Columbia and Marion Streets for 2 successive weekends. Periodic lane closures on Columbia St. will still be necessary for the next 2-3 months as the perimeter walls and steel erection for the parking garage on the west side of the project are completed.

Thanks for posting the link. It is amazing to see how much progress the core has made.

Other than 181 Fremont in San Francisco this is the best project on the West coast IMHO.

I wish more buildings would stop skipping the 13th floor--it's such a silly superstition in Western culture.

The floor plates have some catching up to do. Never seen an elevator shaft rise so quickly.

I heard there was a state in the US or province in Canada that is banning skipping numbers due to the risk of emergency crews mixing up the floors they need to go to. I agree it's a stupid superstition and I wish everyone would ban that.
