#3 "Riverview Amusement Park to reopen" was the dead give-away for me.

i've attended riverview hundreds of times........ in my dreams.

would i actually sacrifice my own life for one ride on the bobs?

I liked the "bringing back the subway token" one. Nanjing China's subway takes a proximity card that just happens to look like a quarter-sized "token" - seems like Ventra should make that an option.

Activity at Paulina and Chicago?

Is anyone aware of plans for the lot one address north of Chicago at Paulina? In 2007 or so they tore down an old parking garage here to build a large townhouse development. That fell through and it's been empty ever since.

Today I saw some equipment on site and people tending to the fence. Any ideas about what's up?

I originally put this in transportation, but decided to move it here. If a mod thinks it should be moved back then be my guest.

35th Street Pedestrian Bridge over LSD. Sorry for the less than stellar shots, but it's not easy to take pics and do 45MPH.

I can't figure out why they have to close a block of Wabash for a year to put a station on top of the existing L structure. I doubt the city let Yerkes close Wabash—at least on weekdays—when he was building the Loop to begin with.

OSHA nor did cars exist back then either. There's also the fact that they're replacing infrastructure below grade.

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but apparently a NY developer is planning 500 apartments in Pilsen between 16th, 18th, Newberry, and Peoria

Nah, I did it as a 10-year-old. OK, but not life sacrificing :-)

That Pilsen lot sorely needs it. The nice thing is thats only half of that land they're talking about developing; theres still even more open land west of Peoria to Sangamon. Would take a lot of pressure off of losing existing affordable units in the neighborhood.

I think after ripping the frig out of South Wacker, they've gotten pretty ballsy about closing huge stretches of downtown streets for huge stretches of time. There's Wabash plus the BRT closures on the weekends now.

Here's a link to a few images of the Pilsen project:

Had no idea that Property Markets Group (kinda a generic name) is also developing SHoP's needle supertall on 57th street while renovating 12-unit apartment buildings in Chicago...

Also, when the budget is already tight, closing streets can save millions of dollars - closing the block of Division over the Clark/Division Red Line station during that rehab saved the city tens of millions of dollars.
