Reminder on articles being posted.

Post the article's date published.

Post the first paragraph or the most important bits (max 5 sentences) to the article only with an ellipsis at the end to indicate that there is more to the article at the link provided.

Post the article's full url.

As of Nov 2nd, I'll be enforcing said rule to make sure articles fit to this standard, as to prevent copyright infringement.

it's not just litigiousness, it's about ownership and respecting the ownership/copyright of others - much like an architect's office wanting to retain "ownership" of their drawings/designs and wanting to limit their use by others. i.e. you can probably safely photograph a project and perhaps even forward a rendering or an elevation - presumably on a for information/not for profit basis and assuming you acknowledge the source as well - and you may even be able to take ownership of the photo - but you probably shouldn't be copying a complete set of drawings and specs for your own use...

A certain Edmonton site people here love to hate went through this a couple of years back. It resulted in one of the more uppity and pious moderators leaving, but the end result was that the site and the dailies now have a symbiotic relationship that is the envy of many others. Respect each other and their turf.

Edited, or expanded upon, the criteria a wee bit. You may post the important bit of the article but only a maximum of 5 sentences.
