In the current issue of Greenville Journal, you'll find this interesting quote:
Quote:
"Big announcemennts could be on the way from the Clemson automotive research campus in Gville. The campus may soon have to expand in size and exercise its land options for the park..."
What could this be? Must be pretty large.

The Design and Preservation Commission/Committee approved the 13-story Pinnacle on Main project yesterday. The grading permit and paper work is expected to be complete by the end of next week, even though that is not a 100 percent guarantee.

Construction on the Bookends phase 2 is to begin in May of 2007 from what I have heard. Also, they have put up that black plastic stuff that is like trash bag material and is held up by like a 3-foot tall fence or so around the Peacock Hotel and Spa site to keep dirt from running into the road when it rains. They have also added more construction equipment to the site like bulldozers and backhoes, so digging of the site should begin in the next week or two I would think.

I am still here.

Great photo updates, G-man! I love the lighting at the top of Hubbell at night. The new graduate facility at ICAR is simply incredible. I haven't been by the Verdae Super Bi-Lo site in quite awhile but it appears to be in full swing now as well. Thanks again!

Hey nice pics. The ICAR buildings look bad ass. When you see all those block already on the super-bi-lo site then it will be starting to go up very soon. It only took us about a month to lay all the block on the publix. I forgot to mention that we have already started the brick work on the front of the publix, and the staples will be starting before too long. There is a tight schedule on mcbee station and it should be completed by spring 2007. It needs to be because of the peacock and phase 2 bookends starting.

So is phase 2 of The Bookends going to be built on the opposite side of the same parking deck? Or on another parking deck?

^^^Bookends phase 2 is going to be built on the opposite side of the same parking deck. Also, grading and construction has started on the O'Charley's or whatever it's supposed to be on that site at the Point.

Both phases of The Bookends will be located on either side of the Spring Street Parking Garage, which was built by the City of Greenville and has won major architectural design awards. In the first photo below, you can see the construction barriers in place to direct traffic around The Peacock Hotel & Spa site. The Washington (phase II of The Bookends) will be built on the end of the garage furthest away in the photo.

Here is a photo of the Spring Street Parking Garage at night:

G-man, I believe that the work being done at The Shops at The Point is the new Fleming's steakhouse.

I love this quote from the article that involves annexing the old Greenville Mall that I posted above: "The developer has offered to build a new, multistory building in exchange for County Square in downtown Greenville."
