SSP Edmonton bike tour v2.0

The last one was a lot of fun and some people couldn't make it, so how about another bike tour in the river valley ?

I'm thinking Thursday July 23rd. Just throwing that out there, I can shuffle around anything else going on that week or the next so any other day will do. If you've got another day in mind throw it out there.

We'll again meet at Ezio Ferone Park at the north west end of the high level bridge and take it from there. Exact time will be figured out later.

Anyone interested ?

Real life got in the way of the last one.

(And those neon green caterpillars that were everywhere for those two weeks.)

Definitely interested in the next one. 23rd or whenever would work.

I'm afraid you're shit outta luck if you're trying to avoid those things in our river valley.
did some hill training by the kinsmen on the weekend and there were at least 20 of them hanging out over the bike path on a 100m stretch.

on the bright side..they're really kinda cute in a way once you get over the ew factor

^ They're still there, but it's no where near as bad as it was at the peak.

A few weeks ago there'd be 20 in a wall across a single section of trail. Followed by another 20 every few feet after that.

There's the ew factor, and then there's feeling like you're a spider-man villain because you're covered in so much crap by the time you get out of the trees. I'm glad that's over with.

haha it's true..I've definitely had a few rides where I look at my bike jersey after and find it hard to believe I rode through that many of them.

that being said..I'd probably be down for a ride.

I'll try to be on this ride again, if I'm not tripping the light fantastic across the Tundra.

Okay, trying to be inclusive as possible, what day works for everyone on the week of the 27th .. monday thru thursday ?

Yes those catarpillars are pretty gross... nasty when they get inside your helmet. Luckily it appears that their season is almost over.

I'll be down, if no other commitments get in the way. And if I don't go on bike tour, I'll join up for the beer part at least afterwards, if there is such...

i [still] don't "bike" but would happy to host a refreshment break on either the way out or the way back if you end up in our neck of the woods...

Looking at my next week it looks like Wed is best for me. I was thinking of heading west and maybe check out the new foot bridge.

It's not open yet, but there is a lot of progress being made on the trails in and around that area (particularly through Patricia Ravine).

I'm actually back in town now, and I would be interested in joining, although I have since traded my mountain bike in for a cyclocross... if you guys are wanting to do really gnarly single-track, I'll happily meet for beers after.
