I've been doing a series of articles on local public art in my Mississauga blog...

Here's the latest - a look at "Possibilities" by Montreal artist Michel de Broin (2012)..

There's a project this winter to turn life guard stations on the beaches into temporary, usable art pieces.

Even Laval is getting a little something for its 50th anniversary.
6 public art pieces have been unveiled around the city, mostly small murals displayed on community centres, arenas, etc.
This is probably the biggest one, on what used to be a plain brown wall facing Cartier metro station. It's quite visible from the bus terminal.
You will recognize the infamous Laval logo, but here it is used to create an interesting design IMO.

La vélocité des lieux, Montréal-Nord. It's like a bike wheel as big as a Ferris wheel, with life-size buses forming the tire.

Bonnalie Brodeur

What is funny is that the buses' rear lights are lit up at night.

^ I like that non-functioning ferris wheel. That part of town needs a landmark.

Would have rather buildings or a garden rather than just grass though. That place will be windblown in the winter.

Not Canada, but this is why Europe is brilliant and North America is sadly, sadly unoriginal.

Stunning Power Line Pylon Project in Iceland
While we build crap like a three foot twisty metal thing to celebrate our history in Regina (Tornado) and we build giant rings in the middle of nowhere (Calgary), Iceland comes up with function and form and freakishly interesting things like this.

Ugh Canada. Do better.

The winning design for the new piece of art that will be built in front of the Vidéotron Center (in Québec city) has been unveiled yesterday. It is said that it's gonna be the largest bronze sculpture ever melted in the country.

I really like it.

A new public art piece was unveiled last week at Hamilton's new West Harbour GO Station. It's called "Bead Maze", by Laura Marotta.

No, the pieces don't move, but kids still play on it...
