An iceberg flowed right by the Narrows (the entrance to St. John's Harbour) today. It disrupted sea travel. It's now flowed ALMOST out of the way.

St-John's is so awesome. You have to be proud.

But I would better like it if the metro area was bigger.

The maritimes provinces deserve a big one

It's rare here too (and even more since our buildings are significantly smaller).

Hahaha, Franks. If we're the Maritimes, you're Ontario. Maritimes predated our joining Canada. Joey popularized Atlantic Canada as a phrase because he didn't want us lumped in with them. And they didn't want us either. ;-) it annoys both sides, especially us, to count NL in the Maritimes.

this bridge looks like something from future or something from a fiction movie like star trek.

I would also guess that while Calgary can absolutely have that niche (and the tourist appeal that comes with it) to itself in Canada totally uncontested, Denver pales in comparison to cities like Fort Worth in 'cowboyness' so they've likely deemed it useless to try to position the city as such.

On the other hand, "foothills/outdoorsy" city is a legitimate marketing niche where Denver can rule...

Just my guess...

I prefer "Canada's westernleast province".

Considering what maritime means BC is really a maritime province. Possibly Quebec too.

So today I did the tourist thing and hiked to the top of the Southside Hills. I eavesdropped on a couple from Ireland, and actually met a charming couple from Toronto.

He was older, she was my age and smoking hot. But they were very affectionate, clearly a genuine couple in love. It was very endearing.

And when a piece fell off one of the icebergs, she was like a child - no embarrassment at others seeing her so excited. I love people like that, no facade.

A couple of pictures walking back through Cahill Point with St. John's in the distance. The tourists were wearing winter clothes. It was at least 20C, but with a cool breeze off the sea. I was in a t-shirt.

And, FINALLY, something for scale in one of my iceberg pictures. Look at the bottom left. That's people. And this is only a medium-sized iceberg. This picture isn't zoomed in much at all. It's that close to shore.

St. John's... you keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it does.
