Yup, they picked a real winner. What does it even mean? Makes no sense and it's awkward to say and it sounds weird.

They can just simply call it the East 12th Street Towers.

I'm sure that they mean it as a play on words cause its one-two towers on East 12th but it's just stupid.

I really hope they think of something better for the name though.

I didn't see the obvious at first glance.

It is a bit overworked of a name....

My favorite iteration was the one that had this feature, but broke up the rhythm and monotony by making the windows different sizes. Still, I'm extremely excited for this one to start!

As an aside, the elevations for One Two East are also in this file. Looks like it is 179'3" to the top to the penthouse. Although there is a disparity when adding up that height with the grade level height, so this one might be more like 185 ft.

Starting on page 89 of the .pdf for this project with much higher quality renderings than we've previously seen.

Nice find! I've never been so excited about a 179' project before.

Edit: I see that these are from the same backup file as the Austin Proper stuff. There is a lot of good stuff in there.

There is no parking podium for this one - all of the parking is underground. There will be a huge pit (~40') excavated for this one.

I like the trees on the deck also - it's almost as if it's a continuation of the canopy in the neighborhood. Looks great.

Although it was hard to tell from the renderings, I was thinking these would be closer to 200 feet. Still, at 179 feet, that will make them the tallest outside of downtown, the south shore area, West Campus and UT. Still essentially part of the same skyline as those areas, though, they'll be the tallest east of the interstate by a pretty good bit.

And YES, I love the trees on the podium. Placing trees on podiums like that is a nice away of lessening the visual impact of a neighboring highrise.

I updated the height in the title.

If you scroll down to page 97, you'll see that it lists the average grade elevation of the site as being 513 feet 3 inches. The highest elevation they list for the roof is 698 feet 3 inches - so 185 feet. Also, that height is only to the main roof and doesn't include the mechanical penthouse. The heights are listed on the stacking plan. That actually ins't the building elevations. I'm sure that the building elevations will show the mechanical penthouse. It should probably add another 8 to 12 feet of height. I think the 179 foot 3 inches height is measuring from the entrance of the grocery section of the building.

The Austin Proper height and floor count should be adjusted as well. It's 397' (rounded to the highest point) and the floor count is 31. It's 35-stories, but the top three floors are mechanical, and there is no 13th floor.

I missed this KXAN story from a week or two ago about the inevitable neighborhood opposition to this project.

It actually seems like a good fit. There's already a good amount of low to mid rise residential in the area, and it would be replacing a poorly used strip center. That shopping center is probably one of the strangest places around downtown. It's so uncharacteristic of the area.

And their argument against it is kind of funny. "Neighbors worry they won’t be able to see the skyline anymore" - so a sort of "we won't be able to see the forest for the trees" argument. I like seeing the forest, I just don't want it to thrive and grow in my direction...

Also the same old tired argument of more traffic. While it's true there will be some more traffic, people will still go out on foot or ride a bike. I don't know about you other guys who ride your bike, but riding a bicycle through a neighborhood is much more preferable to driving a car through one. Not to mention most of the auto traffic would be headed in the other direction (away from the neighborhood) to access I-35 and downtown. It's kind of a weak argument really. And I'm not sure where they get their 10,000 cars a day number from. That seems very high even when you consider the planned grocery store, which by the way I would imagine would be heavily used by residents of the neighborhood.
