I have just been alive long enough to know what these terms actually mean when politicians say them.
I will ask the same question again that no one answered on the GMB thread. If these projects really aren’t cancelled and are just being re-evaluated in a non bias fashion, what happens if the reports state that the original plans (or plans very similar in scope and design) that were put on hold / stopped really are the best approaches? Do you really think that the NDP will say, “Well gosh darn, the Liberals were right, this project was the best option, okay, start things up again!”
No, never, without a chance. I would gladly eat humble pie if that does happen, but you would be a fool to count on that. Any project that was moving ahead (especially those in pre-construction) that have been slated for “re-evaluation” will never come back, especially in any form resembling what was proposed before. As for site-C, well, it is mid construction, so it may be too late to stop. In that case, trying to make it look like as big of a boondoggle as possible is the best political option.
