How’s the midtown Hampton Inn progressing? Have they set up the crane yet?

Yeah this is not in Atlanta, but it is developments like this that are going to justify MARTA expanding to the suburbs. Therefore I think it is worthy to be included here!

FDA HQ - Currently Midtown

These were uploaded 5 days ago. I can't distinguish if these are a renovation of their current HQ on Peachtree or a new location. Anybody live near can take a couple pics of the current site? Thanks.

That is of the current site, 100% confident. It’s a rendering of a new building on the parking lot along Peachtree. I added a few notes above each image

Yeah, from the street view here, you can see that they are keeping the existing building behind and filling in the existing parking lot with the three story building in those images.

Good Eyes SA - Given the number of empty or under utilized parcels in Midtown, I am actually in favor of them staying put and expanding/renovating.

The local news is downplaying the actual story saying equipment fell and a power line shorted. The cables running the entire 39 floor length were in flames wrapping around all 39 floors of the building, while electrical equipment was exploding off the craft with amazing force crushing cars below and causing multiple vehicle fires. The way all the local reports are making this out are outright lies compared to the actual events that took place.

IMO local news/fire/midtown officials are downplaying the actual severity of the situation. Honestly the fact no one was killed is amazing too me.

Original video I shot: https://imgur.com/a/lDDtvaE

I also happened to see the 'artwork' explosion when it happened (I live at Atlantic House). Cursed building is right, I'm going to wear full protective equipment when going near that place when the Whole Foods finally opens.

ga power is a 3rd rate. no other US cites string up transmission lines haphazardly around their cites and down main avenues like we have here in atlanta. not even detroit. it's like the only thing on their mind is "how can we do this as cheaply as fucking possible"

if i used ga power as my hypothetical electrician, and needed a new power outlet installed, they would come out and staple an extension cord to my ceiling and say "ok, yer good ta go!"

I agree, the FDA is a pig, no redevelopment in this area probably should be less than 5 stories and to not do anything at the hideous HQ behind it is horrible, it is one of the most ugly, unfriendly buildings in the area and the way it connects with 8th and Cypress is unfixable.

This does fix the way it interacts with Peachtree. In an ideal world they would move to Clifford or closer to the tech campus, and sell the property to a developer but in today's budgetary environment I think this is as good as we are going to get.
