I should have clarified: there's no such thing as **good** Tex Mex in Oregon...
That's my opinion. Having living in Portland for 13 years and Texas for 21, I've tried many a restaurant. The absolute worst is Esparza's!

I just landed a job in Washington County so I'm moving from Michigan to Portland in less than two weeks.

I'm nervous but excited for a new adventure. Looking forward to getting to know some of you a little better and to follow these threads a bit more.

I find your Tom Waits quote interesting. Does it tie into a philosophy about urbanity? I think, paradoxically, the "excess" of city if made with a boundary protects the wilderness and natural abundance.

Thoughts? And welcome.

Thanks everyone. The Portland section of this site has so many subcategories that I had no idea where to post my original message.
