Curbed is so slow. That permit was from August 9th, 3 weeks ago. Here's the start of us talking about it the next day:

I remember last year they sought a height to something like 456 feet, so this is much over that. I think the penthouse was already 7000 sq ft, so it looks like it's being doubled in size now. Wondering if it has a buyer (like Ken Griffin)? So basically, it sounds like a multiple level penthouse with potentially over 14,000 sq ft and a private rooftop pool. Dayum...

I don't think it'd be Ken. Maybe one of his most senior employees but baller or not it still doesn't scream 'top of the pile' the way I'd think he'd want a place to.

I was thinking buying it more for one of his investments, not to live in. He's already got four floors at park tower, and two at Elysian after selling his third floor. Not to mention new york, aspen, florida, hawaii, and Sicily. The dude is is a real estate guru. Doesn't hurt to be worth 8 billion.

It's actually supposedly Griffin but others too. If you click on the link to the post, there's this response shortly after

He doesn't exude baller, but he already owns something like 2 or 3 full floor penthouses in Chicago and he's the rumored buyer of the most expensive piece of private home real estate in NYC history ($200M). Citadel is also paying the highest price per sq ft for office space in the history of NYC in one of the newest buildings. He kind of quietly just does this, but him buying a full floor (or two) penthouse is nothing new. He has a few of them. The two moves alone in NYC kind of make me believe he does this stuff on purpose to be kind of like "how do you feel that the person paying the highest price for office space in NYC history and the highest price for just one unit of residential real estate in NYC history is actually a Chicagoan?" There were a lot of pissed off New Yorkers online when he was the rumored buyer - even going as far as saying that he couldn't afford a $200M unit (these idiots are so bad at math if they truly believe this).

Nope.

It's shocking that a building in that location, and with the prices it's surely asking, is such an architectural turd.

I actually think it's a nicely designed structure, compared to the real turds out there
